Ralph's stream was fun for a time, got to meet and chat with alot of interesting people, but this interaction was the souring that Zoom threatening to kill me an my family triggered the "this really isn't worth it any more" center of my brain. If your failed drive is a HDD, as in it has spinning platters, if it spools up, you probably have a damaged partition and can easily be fixed with software borrowed from piratebay. If it clicks or does not spin at all, 90% its a blown capacitor and can be fixed by someone who knows how to do small component board repair.

If you do chose to get it repaired Rossmann Group in NYC are reliable and reputable, IMHO. I dont know or care where you are located but they do repair drives regularly and accept mail ins. Worth a shot if there is data on there you want recovered.

Don't do that! Chances are Best Buy will just ruin your hard drive further. What's the problem? Does it work at all, does it spin when you plug it in? Try EaseUS, it's not cheap but there's a trial (2G or 5G maximum recovery size). Oh it's on PirateBay too, not that I endorse piracy.
