Pikmin thread

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe is very poorly optimised on the Switch 2, with screen flickering and other graphical errors being commonplace. This is planned to be fully fixed in an update by Nintendo after having already rolled out a compatibility update prior to the launch of the console.

Here's a few videos and screenshots of the game shitting the bed

I'd be curious to see more videos of these glitches if any kiwis own both a Switch 2 and Pikmin 3 Deluxe, as there is currently little documentation of them online. The demo of the game hasn't been patched at all if the update notes are to be believed, so you could probably get the best results from there
This is hilarious since Deluxe was a buggy mess at the launch for the Switch 1 when that came out, so to see it shitting the bed again for the next console is further pissing in its mouth for kicks.
How's 4 on it by the way? Running about as well on Switch 1, better, or slightly worse if not as bad as Deluxe shown here?

I haven't been able to find much on the Pikmin 4 front, which is surprising since the game is praised as one of the better-looking titles on the system. At 3:41 in the video I posted earlier, imonlyhereforpikmin says that the game runs in 1080p with no issues or improvements, which I can believe as Nintendo featured the game in their backwards compatibility marketing push.

The only Nintendo games aside from P3D that are reported to have compatibility issues are Switch Sports and Smash Ultimate. Switch Sports apparently dips to 30fps while playing football in an online match. Online matches in Smash Ultimate end instantly if a Switch 1 player is matched with a Switch 2 player while one of them is playing as a Mii Fighter. Nintendo downplaying the issues with Pikmin 3 hurts their credibility, though I'm inclined to believe them on Pikmin 4 being compatible.
