I remember when Pillowfort first started because some tumblr users found the site to "problematic" for them. This was way before the NSFW purge back in 2019, so it took them this long before they allowed random people to join? This site is either going to crash and burn or fade away like some of the other art websites that have popped up over the years.

I like the idea of pillowfort, honestly. A pseudo-tumblr with more focus on fan interaction is a decent concept, however it not being ran by any major company is an immediate setback and it's unlikely very many people are going to go to it immediately.

That being said, I think one of the major setbacks it's gonna have is this rule:

Basically, it's against the ToS to post your own original content (persistently, whatever that implies) if it's not tagged or within a specific community, meaning that it may be difficult for people to make their own art blogs if it's merely just their own original stuff. That being said, I don't think this was really meant to discourage art and moreso meant to discourage schizos, which is a fair rule.

Either way, I may give it a shot. But regardless it's probably gonna take a while to properly take off, and until then there are definitely people who can be... ahem, monitored. If anybody wants to help revive the thread (especially because the site's now public) you can find it here.

She was dumb enough to actually send me the link to read her shit, and it was mostly the same kind of dumb emo shit you'd expect... lot's of sadness and angst followed by admission of cutting to "feel better". That's why I completely left social media in the late 90's. You had the woman and their internet presence, figure out which one you're with or if it's about you this time.

I'm actually quite shock to hear in this thread that apparently, it was made as a response to Tumblr "being too problematic?"

That's funny, because I see alot of push back form those same people, all because they changed the rules and now allowed / not allowing fictional porn of underage characters

It's a SJW affair, originally started for people who were so easily triggered that tumblr was dangerous.

I recall reading that thread during my lurking time here. I think those who created it and their intended user base will find themselves in a dilemma. If it's truly supposed to be a safe space for members, does that mean nobody else can police what other users do with their account because it's their individual safe space? Or will it quickly degenerate into another "rules for thee, not for me" site which makes it no diffrent than any other mainstream blogging/social platform?

Perhaps I'm mixing up sites, but I also recall a site where people could report cyberbullying, harassmaent, doxing, etc. via a web form. From what I remember, lolcows and their white knights tried using it to complain about threads on the Farms. I can't remember if that somehow tied into Pillowfort or if that was a separate site/project.
