Piracy General

Maybe I was looking at the wrong site.

edit: Is SoulSeek a software program that I need to install?
Like the other guy said, Nicotine+ is much better than the old client. Same network, a lot more customizability. Start by adding adding your music folders in the "shares" section of preferences. Pro tip: if a file is marked as "PRIVATE", you can't download it unless you're on the user's buddy list. Send them a message and ask them to add you.

First I’ve heard of this. Nice.

Worst Korea has passed laws to try to further crackdown on piracy:

Would Worst Korea be crazy enough to make piracy punishable by death, but even that wouldn't stop it?
Piracy is the main reason why Chink and Gookbooks have managed to drown out Manga on online websites.

Good luck enforcing it though. As much as I'd like online sites to go right back to just manga.

If it helps at all, I’ve noticed that there isn’t nearly as much of that on slsk these days. I’ve yet to find a situation where I am looking for something and could only find it in a private share.

For the longest time I had no idea why I couldn't download some files using the original client. When I switched to Nicotine last year, I noticed the "PRIVATE" tag and realized what the issue was. I never bothered using the updated (forked?) original client, maybe it displays the private tag as well.

Anyone know of good Olympics streams?
Sorry, I don't know much about gay streaming.

Serious info: VPN -> set location to the UK -> Use BBC iPlayer. That's how people did it last time.

TorrentFreak: Nintendo Piracy: NXBrew and NSWPedia Targeted in European Blocking Efforts (archive) (mega)
Nintendo can welcome two new pirate site blocking orders in Europe at the start of the year. Last week, a Dutch court ruled in favor of local anti-piracy group BREIN, ordering NXBrew to be blocked. A few days earlier, a German court issued a blocking injunction against another Nintendo Switch piracy site, NSWPedia. Through voluntary cooperation deals, these orders are honored by the major ISPs in these countries.

TorrentFreak: DMCA Subpoenas Can’t Be Used for Foreign Piracy Lawsuits, Court Rules (archive) (mega) (A&N)
A California federal court has ruled that identity information obtained through DMCA subpoenas cannot be used for foreign copyright lawsuits, rejecting manga publisher Shueisha's attempt to use it outside the United States. The decision comes after the former operator of defunct piracy giant Mangajikan fiercely protested the request for a much broader order.

Anyone familiar with setting up live tv on Emby or Jellyfin? How easy is it to do, and how reliable? Like could I watch major sports events like the Superbowl without it being blocked or glitching during a game? Or is it region locked so if your IP address is outside the country it gets blocked?

who seeds what they can of Anna's Archive's torrents?
i have a handful of laptop drives (probably 2-3tb) that aren't being used so i'm just downloading torrents and playing my small part.

if anyone is interested i'll drop torrent names here

What are the different torrents that are available? Id like to find one that's like 1tb of the most popular songs, hopefully formatted so that it can be imported into Navidrome as-is. I could probably do the 6tb one I've heard of but then I need to start preparing to either get another drive or start cleaning up space.

Though I could probably format them myself if I can set up a batch script to run for a few days in the background on my server.

music ones aren't available afaik, just doing regular books.

Once again, honestly a wonder Japan is even relevant.
>Ah yes, I, a popular mangaka, draw 1 chapter every 3 months. I make no money and can't afford to draw what I really want because my manga made it to the big leagues.
>Yo fr og I draw this korean manhwa when I'm not in school. It's in full color, has half as many panels, but I make money and I only have one manager at the publisher whom I talk shit with
I actually laugh at korean comedy manhwas, post-translation at that. Anime exists to sell manga which exists to sell those big compilation books we don't even get in the west.

Anna started to leak their torrents but they haven't posted the links to the torrents on their page due to the lawsuit. Allegedly there is a 6tb torrent but I haven't found it yet.

Edit: i found the torrents.json which contains several torrents between 250-350 gb that add up to 6tb, but they all have names like "annas_archive_data__aacid__duxiu_files__20240613T185016Z--20240613T185017Z" and it sounds like the files have randomised names so it'll take a while to see if I can massage the files in a way that they can be read by navidrome or whatever with all metadata correct.

Done. Still kinda pissed the damned file is 9.83G. That's almost 10x the size of damn near every other film in me collection.
*looks at the 80gb remux I downloaded this evening*
*sweats visibly*

I would never...
(It does look phenomenal though)

I need a damned glossary. So many words I do not know in this thread.
I'll be willing to lend a hand where I can.

That's $40 down the drain. I got the program for the sole purpose of removing DRM from iTunes. Looking into getting a refund.
Please don't buy software. Every single pirate who actually does shit says not to, and I'm in agreement with them. They all use FOSS software bundled together into one "piece of shit software" for "user convenience" at an infinity% markup. -- If you wanted to download content off the internet, for example, but it's DRM locked, N_m3u8DL-RE, Shaka-packager, mp4decrypt, WidevimeProxy2 or PlayReadyProxy, spin up a WVD/PRD file and there you go, .mkv file of the content.

I have a hunch it's as simple as retarded normies clicking on *.mp3.exe, but were infected music files and arbitrary code execution through media players actually commonplace, and if so how bad was it? Were the peer-to-peer programs of the era actually malware themselves?
Windows often doesn't show the extension of files, thus showing System.of.a.Down.Hypnotize.2005.Full.Album.mp3.exe as System.of.a.Down.Hypnotize.2005.Full.Album.mp3, including the dots in between. .Exe's can also choose their own pictogram as opposed to regular files such as .mp3's, whereby they can mimic music file pictograms. So yeah, I see it as being a regular thing that happened whereby Captain Hindsight is making jokes about "those idiots from the 2000's not recognizing .exe files, how stupid!", then proceeds to use a very obvious virus labelled "Adobe_AfterEffects_Latest_Keygen.exe".

the first game I ever tried to pirate was Hello Neighbor

Hello Neighbor came out in 2016-17, so 8-9 years ago. If you were old enough to not see Hello Neighbor as a bunch of bright colors and shiny images and able to pirate it without viruses, I'd imagine you'd be 10, at least. You'd be 18-19 now. God, I'm old.

Someone should probably update the OP. Some links are dead.
Yeah, use my rewrite.

Well, that's embarrassing. I was 20 when it came out. I was vaguely aware of the game via cultural osmosis, but that's it. I generally ignore reviews and wasn't into gaming at the time. Didn't think it was worth paying for, but was bored senseless and needed something to occupy my time.

I only got into piracy last year when I started copying my DVDs to a hard drive. and wanted higher-quality copies of my favorite movies than what HandBrake had to offer. Kinda wish I'd just torrented all 200+ horror titles, but the DVD rips took up less space on my hard drive. Still barely touched my non-horror titles.

eta: It will never cease to amuse me that my pirated copy of Hello Neighbor installed an antivirus on my PC. I have to wonder how many other software torrents come paired with one.
