Is there some quirk in WideVine that uses weird/unsupported m3u8 features or something?
I'm also a big FFMpeg fan. FFMpeg is used during the conversion as well, as far as I know. Widevine isn't the name for the program but the name of the DRM used by a lot of websites. I recommend all the things in the post because those are the defaults without needing configuration. n_m3u8dl-re can be set to use FFMpeg, you can try it out and show your results.

This is an example code you'll get:
Code:
N_m3u8DL-RE "drm.shinonomehousehold.jp/blablabla/wordswordswords/nano?=shinonome" -H "User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:145.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/145.0" -H "Accept: */*" -H "Referer: https://www.shinonomehousehold.jp/" -H "Origin: https://www.shinonomehousehold.jp" --key h454k3:5h1n0n0me --use-shaka-packager -M format=mkv

n-m3u8dl-re has the flag --decryption-engine <FFMPEG|MP4DECRYPT|SHAKA_PACKAGER> : Set the third-party program used for decryption [default: MP4DECRYPT]. You can set it to FFMpeg if you like and would replace the Bento4 tools.

Video Streaming
JustWatch
Handy website to look up where something gets streamed on or is available on for purchase. Maybe not handy for your purposes of wanting to stream things for free, but the link provided shows viewable media "for free with ads" (if you consider it truly "free"). Also shows if your movie in question is in your local cinema. Shows where to watch Nichijou 1).

KimCartoon
Please note: this website changes domains REGULARLY. Please go to the FMHY wiki if the domain isn't working. -- Mostly used for western cartoons, won't provide perfect video, but this is used for streaming so I doubt you'd care for video quality. Can use multiple servers. Will not stream Nichijou 1).

KissCartoon
Please note: this website changes domains REGULARLY. Please go to the FMHY wiki if the domain isn't working. -- Usually provides better streamability than the aforementioned KimCartoon, basically is the same site. Will not stream Nichijou 1).

CrunchyRoll
Offers some anime in full quality without being a premium member. Does include ads, premium reminders and some shows are behind a paywall, but it's the most stable anime streaming service out there. Doesn't like Linux. Will not stream Nichijou 1) for free.

JustAnime
Provides stable 1080p streaming. Will stream Nichijou 1) (sub).

AnimeHub
Provides 1080p streaming. Will generally lag when going above 720p. Will stream Nichijou 1) (dub & sub).
Don't forget XPrime

Definitely add a separate entry for JDownloader. I can't recommend this program enough. It monitors your clipboard in a tab callled Linkgrabber, supports dozens of DDL sites like Rapidgator or keep2share (you can enter your login and password if you have premium), downloads Youtube videos with ease (you can leech whole playlists/channels and choose different resolutions etc.). It's highly customizable and gets updates CONSTANTLY.

I can't be bothered to check if those sites are listed on Freemediaheckyeah or Champagne Piracy, so here goes:

rarelust.com - Fucking amazing site with tons of sci-fi, action, horror, porn and what have you. Updated every 10 days. Uses Tezfiles as the only DDL host. Slow download speeds if you don't have premium, but downloads are resumable.

ok.ru/video - Lots of old and rare movies, MOSTLY RUSSIAN DUBS.

film1k.com - Again, lots of old and rare movies.

myabandonware.com - Huge collection of old games, most of them include noCD cracks. It has a comments section, so you may learn a solution to a problem if you have one. Highly recommended.

gload.to - Games

g4u.to - Games

elamigos.site - Games

audioz.download - Music software: DAWs, VST etc.

I’ve never really liked JDownloader but maybe I need go get used to using it is all. I had to use it for some downloads but it always worked against me instead of with me, but I’ll try it out again.

Appreciate the site recommendations!

You just have to bite the bullet and learn to customize it. It will take a day or two, but after that you should be fine. Then you only need to set it to auto-update or check for updates manually when Youtube inevitably introduces a bunch of stupid changes, that's it.

You should add gog-games.to which has most/all of the GOG catalog with both torrent and download links.

For the video players section, 99% of the time I don't bother with MPV - it's always felt like pushing shit uphill to get it to do what you want. Potplayer and MPC-HC both have HDR support which was MPVs big claim to fame for a long while (K-Lite codec packs is actually still okay for easily configuring codecs/renderers/etc if you're lazy - the ) and I much prefer the PotPlayer interface.

I've never understood why people are so slow to recommend this program. I've been using it for literally 15 years and couldn't imagine using anything else for managing direct downloads. One should also remember that it isn't just for downloading from file hosting sites or downloading videos from a streaming site, but works great for archive.org as well. I honestly try it on any site that I'm going to be downloading a variety of stuff from.

@Hakase Shinonome Good job!

Notes:
- Why do we care if sites can stream nichijou whatever-the-fuck. Remove that, clutter is bad.
- On the topic of clutter, most of the stuff in the DIY section should either be under spoilers, or just cut altogether
- The way you've broken down sections doesn't make sense towards the end. Music -> Soulseek is definitely not a torrent provider
- The whole thing could do with a second pass for editing purposes; some of the descriptions don't quite read naturally (to me at least)
- Whole thing could use a little bit of tweaking for visual clarity. Which is minor nit-pick, but it's a 'do it once, do it right' situation.

Yeah, gog-games.to is great. It's nice how they have use multiple DDL hosts for everything and it's usually the better, not overly Jewy ones (Pixeldrain, Gofile).

As for MPC-HC, the last update was in 2017. I use a fork called MPC-BE, which is more up to date.

It's fantastic. It detects everything. You can highlight a bunch of thumbnails on a forum and press ctrl+C and it will fetch links to full size images from site's source. Then you can sort results by file size, ignore the thumbnails and add what you want to download list. You can even search within Linkgrabber's list.

qBitTorrent
If you're already familiar with uTorrent, this is the better version without the annoying ads, open-source and multi-platformed! (Can be a memory hog, though.)
Good client, but for the love of god make sure you download the latest beta instead of the latest general release. There's a vicious bug in the latest general release that causes it to sit at 99.9% on practically all modern torrents (and it genuinely hasn't downloaded the last piece, so until it magically changes its mind to download that last chunk, the torrent is corrupted until it does). It's fixed in the newest beta after years of people complaining about it.

I'm fucking retarded. It's Transmission with the above issue, not qBittorrent. Disregard, I suck cock.

You don’t get it. *sigh*

Sure, I guess. But the DIY part is not going to be cut if I have a say in it. It provides really valuable information, maybe some you don’t care about but it’s also for newbies.

Soulseek is a distributed network, not direct downloads. It’s put in the “Torrent” section because of it not being direct downloads links.

I’ve never had any problems with it, it’s mutiplatform, easily installable on all platforms, provides easy usability on both terminal and regular use, supports all my needs such as CSS subtitles, flawless 4K playback, script support, flawless FTP/YTDLP/Twitch/etc support. I certainly can’t complain about it. HDR support is all over the place with Linux so I can’t imagine what perfect HDR is like on it.

An actual hardcore video player user would use FFPlay.

I would’ve added all you guys’ suggestions for piracy sites if I could still edit it at this point.

Note for self:
Add explanations of torrenting file name structures.

I'm sure it is valuable information, but especially if it's for newbies, do you really think a newbie is likely to want to use something so (relatively) complicated? I would think most would just initially latch onto common, easy to use things i.e. not something that you operate through CMD.

It's all useful in theory, but given it's only indirectly related to piracy itself, I think it could all be hidden behind spoilers with a brief explanation of what all the info is in the OP itself.

I didn't say it was DDL. So seeing as we agree that it's not torrenting, I don't follow your logic there at all. I think it would make more sense to group as much as possible based on the type of media rather than on the type of source.

All this is just one kiwis opinion mind you. I'm not trying to be overly critical (because there isn't really anything to be overly critical about); just constructive-ish thoughts I had while reading through it. For the most part, it's an excellent current year update. Ya dun good. :winner:

High-quality writeup but honestly if you aren't a normalfag and pirate more than once a blue moon you really should just join a PT or get a Usenet indexer. I don't know how any of you can put up with DDL/Streaming. And most public trackers (exceptions of course, e.g. nyaa.si is great if you're a tranime fag) will either give you giga aids or be a worse experience than DDL

If anyone here is looking for a private tracker to join keep your eye on TorrentLeach. They usually open registrations around Christmas and it's easy to build a good ratio there.

Which reminds me, it’s been a while since I gave out some iptorrents invites! No sense them just sitting there unused. They will be issued on a first come first served basis.
Same rules as usual. Drop me a DM and I’ll send you one, If you’re some new fag or disruptive retard/pink triangle haver don’t bother.

I’ve also got some drunkenslug invites for those getting into usenet. Same rules as above.

As long as I don’t have a problem with DDLs or Public Trackers, I don’t see the need to join a private one, all my tastes aren’t that niche apart from my native country’s content, which can be sparse. For ex, I’m trying to translate three seasons worth of a show that’s only been shown in around three countries, maybe, to show to a wider audience. My translation skills can be absolutely abysmal but I’m trying. Finding the original sources were an absolute pain in the ass though and it’s become one of my most valued files. Even if I ripped them from TV, because it’s still showing, I’d have a letterboxed mess that looks ugly.

I would think most would just initially latch onto common, easy to use things i.e. not something that you operate through CMD.
I know that most people are absolute mouth dribbling retards but if you don’t know how to operate a CMD or terminal, I don’t want you pirating at all, to be honest. You’d be too much of a retarded faggot baby to even click on the right download button of qBitTorrent (which has happened to a friend of mine). It’s good to learn new things, such as CMD, to get away from things such as looking up “yt to mp3 converter”.

I personally want to figure out how to seed on a server without needing a client continually active, since my server is headless. It’s good to learn, and I’m forcing newfag babies to.
