Not joking. Three strikes got our service cut off immediately and my dad had to call and get it reinstated. The guy who answered told him if it happened again, they wouldn't reinstate our service unless we let them search every device in the house. He also sperged out and talked my dad's ear off about horror movies when he saw Friday the 13th among the titles we'd been struck for. Mediacom doesn't seem particularly fond of VPNs. My internet slows to a crawl any time I have mine on (a fairly recent development) and no other network I've connected to has any problems. Using the internet is basically impossible with my VPN on at home.
Just to confirm, when you turn on the VPN does only slow the Internet for your computer or all devices on the home network? If it's the latter, it sounds like the ISP is throttling your Internet connection when they detect a VPN. You might be able to get past the throttling by enabling a 'stealth' option in your VPN client.

This sounds absolutely preposterous. Even cops would need court orders to do something like that. I can't picture how they'd even do that. So you invite some stranger into your house and then what? Does he have a dog trained to sniff out electronics? You could just show him a PC from 2003 with Windows 7 on it. What's he gonna do?

I have no idea. My household's been with Mediacom for ~30 years, so lord knows what was in their contract.

To my knowledge it's just my PC, but I stopped using the VPN after I started having this problem. I might turn it on for a few minutes here and there just to check if the issue persists. I'll look more into it when I get home.

Must be nice not constantly having older relatives asking you to pirate media...My family does not give a flying fuck about the ethics of piracy.

I've trained them well...
i had my dad walk into my room MID PHONE CALL asking me to pirate a movie for him.

people on the other end of the phone were some mates and they found it hella funny

jesus christ.
It's an advertisement for shady online gambling. It's a money laundering scam most likely to trick third world retards into coughing up the little pocket change they have for life savings.

If you look it up, (slotslight or xbet) you can find reddit posts and shit of pirates complaining about these ads for half a decade.
what i find funny about the complaints is the fact that the ads are basically a tradeoff.
like you either pay for a ticket to see the movie or deal with our bullshit ads.

and yet niggas will STILL complain.

We love blender nigga ❤️

Seriously though this is just an excuse to post this bullshit video but if my pirated movie got interrupted by her I wouldn’t be mad in the slightest:

This is her profile btw: https://www.instagram.com/djentthegod

I've come across plenty of obscure, low-budget horror flicks while trolling the various torrent sites mentioned in this thread and "influencer bitten by radioactive shark goes on killing spree" had no right to be as good as it was.

can someone throw my a reliable harddrive retailer? I currently use a 4TB mybook and its lasted me around 7 years without any major issues, should I just keep the same one or should I switch to another one.

Sata -> USB 3.0 adapter and a crucial SSD is what I have running on my Mac Mini right now

Ought to find a lawyer and sue the cocksuckers for that kind of bullshit. Preferential traffic, especially to intentionally cripple devices for using specific (legal) services, has been actionable in the past despite the absence of net neutrality laws.

Also, have a look for a VPN provider that uses Wireguard under the hood (or just spin up a cheap VPN server of your own on whatever cheapest VPS is available with unmetered traffic off-shore) to run Wireguard yourself. It's UDP, can use any network port you want (so they can't just block or sniff the "standard" port), is kernel-level (even on Windows, complete with signed drivers), secure, and fast as hell.

Proton does use Wireguard. You might have to enable a few of the censorship bypass features in this case.

So is pirating comic books a thing? I did a couple searches and sure enough:

Getting older is realizing a lot of it has been faggot shit this whole time, but 2013-2015 seems to be the cutoff before everyone went full retard.
There's a reason why comic book stores have pivoted to manga and merchandise, so many comics are crap now that almost nobody is reading them. I downloaded this massive archive of marvel and DC comics and have barely touched it.

I also think a lot of it has to do with the rise in popularity of narrator channels on youtube too. Why read that shit yourself when you can listen to it in the background and occasionally rewind if you missed something?

If the narrator gets to a part where theres faggot nonsense or things you don't like, you can just close the tab instead of buying a comic book and gambling with your money blindly or wasting data downloading a torrent.

I'm not familiar with narrator channels but having to get someone to read a comic book to you like it's a children's picture book during the library story time doesn't sit quite right with me.

Audio books are just as lazy and feel like your parents reading you a bedtime story, but I do that with everything so I can have background noise.

Guess I wont get into Marvel/DC comics then

Thanks shitloads for reminding me of my favorite comic that, after a perfect ending, was revived and butchered by this fuckwit:

She saw a bi character who was in a relationship with a woman - a relationship that took years to come to fruition - and turned her into a horny lesbian who just wants to fuck constantly. Fuck you, Tini Howard. Fuck you very much.

I mean I get audiobooks as it's already 1 dimensional media so verbalizing it is natural, but I don't think I can listen to someone going "And here Deadpool jumps out and shouts 'hey what's crack-a-lakin?' and then he goes BOP! POW! CRACK! and here he stands on their mangled corpses and here we see a corgi wow doesn't this corgi look horrified?"

A big part of the reason I haven't started reading the Final Destination novels, which have been digitized and made accessible via Internet Archive, is that the series relies so much on visuals, specifically tiny intricate details.

There is an absolute saint digitizing rare/out of print movie tie-in novels called Sokywocky and uploading them to Internet Archive.
