I typically assume folks online are men. The fact that I've spent ~20 years mostly consuming content made by men for male audiences might play a part in that.
Having been on Forums, MMOs and many parts of the internet usually with female avatars in games or anime chicks as my profile pic, I've rarely been asked that question. The last time I did was some incel dude who anytime you disagreed with him he'd default to "URRR DAT IS FEMALE LOGICK" and go on about chicks are dumb or something, before that I'm pretty sure it was years ago.

The general consensus amongst people is it doesn't really matter what someone's gender is. The only people who care about someone's gender online tend to be desperate guys who want to find a chick to creep on because "A WOMAN ONLINE MUST BE MY SOULMATE!" - suffice to say, it's only weirdos who hyper-fixate or give a fuck about it.

Also troons. They REALLY want you to know what their gender is and if they’ve chopped their dick off. Even in the most benign forums possible about, I don’t know, fishing boats, or something. - If it has a custom space for information, it will be used with (MtF She/Xer).

Troons which're the majority of them (unfortunately) are the worst kind when they must signpost that they're trans as HARD as humanly possible then get mad when people point it out, I will say though from my last few fleeting attempts to use dating apps online, tons of these 'I'm not even bothering to pass' or 'I look like a drag queen who couldn't give a fuck' trans niggers will just put she/her on shit, even when there are outright trans options on sites, then get seriously fucking steamed when people won't accept it.

I'm here to shill FTP once more.

I'm currently performing the ABadAvatar/ABadUpdate exploit on the X360. Very fiddly stuff. If you have an X360 lying around and want to exploit it, ir you want to buy- and exploit one, I recommend getting a pre-made package, which covers all the stupid bullshit for you (like setting the path of Aurora, the custom dashboard). Getting games on there would be a headache and a half if...

It wasn't for FTP saving the day. No need to get out of your goddamned chair to get a USB stick and take it out of your X360, put it into your PC, convert all the .ISO files to .GOD files, wait for it to complete, see that those godforsaken files can be 4GB+ which is a big no-no on FAT32 USB's, which this fucking piece of shit console only accepts because it's from the fucking middle ages. Having to do a million troubleshooting steps for it to work. Then put the USB back in, only for you to have to do the BadUpdate exploit another million times, only to see it hasn't worked and do it all over again.

No, you have FTP. A miracle of a protocol built into Aurora with minimal set-up, you only need to turn it on with its pre-configured settings. Grab an FTP program like FileZilla if you're a Windows faggot. Or literally any file explorer program on MacOS or Linux. FUCK WINDOWS. Drag the .GOD files onto the machine and wait. There you go, the entire game on your X360, zero fucking hassle, didn't need to restart the console, no need to even get off your ass.

Why haven't you used it yet?

I don't know many biological women who feel the need to put at the top of an FAQ "Are you really a girl? / Sigh - Next question" and also make posts only mentioning their gender in weird sexual lights like "I wont show you my tits or kiss you". It sounds more like troon behaviour than female behaviour. I won't lie that it's personal bias from observations of troons and their behaviours, so I very might be wrong. It just feels too performative to actually be a woman.
Sure. It's not a hill I'm going to die on. If plausible evidence of his alleged troonery surfaced, I wouldn't be shocked.

What happens if you try downloading a legal torrent like say a Linux iso? Those should be guaranteed to have a lot of seeders.
It took me a few minutes to realize "Linux iso" in data hoarding groups is a euphemism

If you're seeding them or were trying out multiple distros for fun those suckers really stack up

I've still yet to see any evidence to back that claim and I shit on trannies like almost any other Kiwi Farmer.
While true, I feel anyone who's primary hobby/job is running a piracy site and calls themselves "FitGirl" is more than likely a man.

Think about it from your average guy's perspective: A woman who's well-versed technologically AND loves or at least likes games AND is deep into piracy AND is physically fit?

That shit would be the holy grail for most men, and is therefore ripe for less desirable people to larp as, like a tranny.

And as @Galeocerdo stated, the fact he plays into the sexual angle just screams tranny to me.

But he usually puts out the best compression for games, includes all the extras and it stays well seeded for a relatively long time, so I won't complain so long as he doesn't fuck it up down the road.

Hey there's a few posts about ebooks and podcasts a while ago that I'm too retarded to quote, but I wanted to share my 2c because I'm organizing all my shit at the moment and download a LOT of them. I started a huge collection of ebooks by downloading torrents and Project Gutenberg packs like everyone else, but now use IRC to get specific books and new releases from servers like #bookz on Undernet. You can google it if you're not an oldfag who already knows how to use IRC, or just ask me because I'm happy to help out. I've got HexChat set up to automatically connect, type "@Search (book name or author)" and get a text in a zip file with all the results, then copy and paste whichever file I want back into the prompt to get it. It works with even brand new books within a few weeks of them getting published. Goodreads is great for book recommendations, you look up books you already love on there and go down a rabbit hole of things that are similar

Then for podcasts, holy shit there's so much fuckery trying to download episodes for keeps because (1) you need a premium subscription to Spotify/Apple, (2) they encrypt that shit within the app or (3) you run in circles between websites that require a subscription as well. So what I done on a windows PC is installed a free program called Poddl (NOT Poddle with an E) you can find on Github. It's just a 1.3MB exe file (or linux/mac) that doesn't need installing and runs from the command prompt. I then go to https://podcastaddict.com/ to search for the podcast I'm after. DON'T sign up or download anything, just open your podcast's page and click the "Copy RSS" link. Open the command prompt to the poddl directry, type the thing and paste the url

So to break it down: I've got poddl.exe sitting on its own hard drive (D:), no folder. I want to download all of something from the first to latest episode

- Open the browser and go to podcastaddict.com and search for the one I want. Click on it
- Click the "Copy RSS" link to the bottom right of the description
- Click the start menu and type "cmd" in Windows (or open the terminal in whatever you're using)
- I change to my poddl drive by typing D:\ then type
- poddl "pasted address" -o ./

Then it'll say
Fetching URL: (the one you pasted)
Downloading 666 files

Downloading file 1/666 [1] Episode 1 There Are Only Two Genders
Downloading file 2/666 [2] Episode 2 Hitler Did Nothing Wrong
etc

And it'll plug away in its own window until it's done. Each file just appears once it's finished without any notifications. Then I cut and paste them into their own directory afterwards. One thing I've noticed is that this gets around whatever paywalls are put up on Spotify/Apple etc; by copying the RSS and doing this, you also get any special bonus episodes that are meant for subscribers only. Once I'm finished downloading everything, I make a note of which was the last file downloaded so I can go back and get new episodes later without starting from the beginning, because sometimes the episode names lag behind the actual file names when they throw in short episodes and bonuses etc if that makes sense

So if I've downloaded up to episode 666 but there's now 669 episodes you can type: poddl "podcast address" -o ./ -n 667-669

Sorry if that was a bit of a rant but I hope it might help someone out

they encrypt that shit within the app
This is probably a stupid question but uh, how does that work if the user has Audacity and just records it? What about a tape recorder next to the computer speakers? The quality might be low for music but I can't imagine audio fidelity matters for a podcast unless it's educational and it's about music theory/ear training or something. Plus it'd give a fuzziness akin to old radio programs. The same thing applies to encrypted video: how? What is stopping OBS or other screen recording software?

Also could any of you Kiwi friends find 2 movies for me? I've been searching for years outside of private trackers, on Soulseek too, and can't find them. They are:
and the sequel which apparently just came out called "It Is Mine" with both Crispin Glover and his (now departed) dad. I can find the first movie on TPB but the other two elude me. Surely someone recorded one of his screenings, surely someone out there has a copy, right?

Sure you could do that for each new episode, but for hundreds of hours of old ones? No way

There's no problem with recording something as you watch/listen to it with another program. By encrypting them I mean that premium apple and spotify accounts allow you to download and save the episodes via the app, but they're in a strange and difficult format spread across different files and folders to deliberately make it impossible to copy and paste somewhere else. They can only be used in that app that you're paying for. So once you cancel your subscription there's no way to view them on another app, they're locked away

Huh I didn't know that was the case. The last time I used itunes you could buy and download a video/song and do anything with the file. How are you supposed to put the podcast on your ipod nowadays? Also if I were a fan of a podcast I'd want to start from the beginning and all it takes is one heroic soul doing the recording and uploading it in a torrent/on Soulseek. And it's not too inconvenient if you made a playlist of podcast episodes, set up Audacity to record, and left it going overnight. In the morning you could spend maybe 15-20 minutes snipping the start/stop of each episode, rename the file and you're good to go.

The idea that avatars/player characters need to resemble the people using the has always been silly to me. I'm playing a game to escape reality. The only thing 47 and I have in common is skin color and I still fucking love playing as him.

That said, I already have a hard drive for TV shows and a hard drive for movies. Should probably consider getting one for games.

iTunes might still work that way but it's been years since I tried. For the past 10+ years 99% of people have been using their phones

Only us old farts and hipsters still have an ipod lol
I'm actually a little confused now. How do people transfer a downloaded file onto the phone if it's encrypted? I haven't used a smartphone in a while but you'd just plug it in and drag/drop mp3s even easier than an ipod then open up the music player. How do phone users overcome encryption? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm a little perplexed.

They download it using Apple Music / Spotify on their phone, you don't need a computer anymore

I put BadUpdate on it when it came out but now I need to fix it to run 1.2 badupdate + and I'm old and don't feel like it. Eventually the permahack will come along if I've waited this long whats another few years. There isn't that much in the 360 library to see and it being closed off for so long led to so little homebrew compared to the OG xbox that hatched things like XBMC/Kodi, CoinOPS etc and had comfy emulators for every system quick.

You can only play Geometry Wars 2 so many times and have it on disc and live anyway. I get nostalgic for Viva Pinata because it legit made kids cry when the pinatas all got sick and died or killed each other for no real reason. Literally no one at Xbox or Rare went 'hey maybe this won't go over well with kids and parents that will have to hear about it'. Enstead they called up Mario Lopez for the launch because they were all OG west coast white khaki-golf shirt every day racists lol. "HEY ALL YOU BEANERS LOVE PINATA'S, RIGHT?"
