So they believe they have the power to shape reality itself to their whim, to have anything, be anyone, go anywhere, and they just... don't feel like it? Who the fuck does that?
Well, from a speculative fiction standpoint, reality warping would be an absolutely terrifying power if the person wasn't extremely fettered about it. (For example, altering peoples' minds as part of it? Mind raping people. Someone pisses you off? Can make it so they cease to exist. Etc.) On top of that, such a power would make things ultimately boring and meaningless if one was constantly using them for everything. If you can snap your fingers and do anything, there is no struggle. No challenge is incredibly dull when it comes to anything. Overcoming hardship and setbacks are part of what make tasks and accomplishments worthwhile. That's incidentally why invincible characters are so fucking boring.
However, getting back to reality, they do not have that power but refuse to use it, nor are they thinking about such implications. They just want some way to imagine themselves as far more fantastical because their lives are boring and they have nothing else to do. But instead of just leaving it to the realm of fantasy and idle daydreams, they instead try to delude themselves into thinking it is real. Rather a pathetic existence, to be blunt.
