Most likely he just spread the Pizzagate story when it was in its infancy, but when controversies such as the attempted Comet Ping Pong shooter started popping up, his bosses told him to drop it.

I think the allegation is that Comet Ping Pong and the other businesses in the areathat allegedly used the FBI 'pedo' logo, were within close proximity to a children's shelter for young children from Haiti, and that some emails referring to "Haitian pizza" or something were codespeak for molesting black children.
