I've lurked on Poast for a year now, there's almost no loli on the home timeline at all. There's a handful of posters and once you mute them, it's gone. The fediverse kind of naturally shuffled the real spammers off to their own identfiable instances. You have to mute a lot more people if you venture onto the whole fediverse timeline.

(Maybe you're getting loli in DMs from people you piss off, but that's no different from the time-honored tradition of sending goatse and Lemon Party in whispers on other sites. The messages functionality on here has been a constant source of mod headaches and bans too.)

A few people from kiwifarms.cc group constantly brought this argument up with anyone stupid enough to respond to them, over and over, in every thread even when off topic, for months before the Keffals DDOS. It wasn't even originally about loli. It was about laughing at internet tough guys trying to bully me off the site. That regardless of what side of the moral argument you're on, the administrative question is different. It's not something anyone here has a good argument about unless you have experience running a user content site, like Null or Graf. Or you've heard their stories and looked into the back end side of things. If you were around for 9chan, when Josh allowed but tried to contain the loli posters in their own board, you might recognize the current arc Poast is going through.

Use the "kiwi safety bar" for banned content. I don't think it sees much use outside the vtuber threads here because so little is banned, but it's still there. Here's the thing, I take the same view of regular old homosexuality. The "normal" kind we're all supposed to be libertarian and tolerant about, the kind nobody argues any more once SCOTUS approved gay marriage. It's the degeneracy at the top of the slippery slope, it's a detriment to every society that tolerates it, and it's never a Good Thing.

Question to anyone with any broader knowledge: how well intertwined are these different instances? I don't mean in terms of federation but rather in the sense of how many of them are bedfellows with one another? I hear multiple names thrown around, and take it whichever direction you like, but other than different staff members and rules then what really separates them in this regard? I guess the even more broad question would be: what separates one instance from the other? Poa.st is being painted as a "loli nazi pedo hugbox" of sorts but how would you describe the others as different from the other?
