Why do they want the old voices so bad, though?

I can understand why they do, the new voice actors aren't very good compared to the old ones. While I do accept there is no hope for Veronca Taylor or anyone else voicing for the show anymore, I really don't like the new ones and wish they still had the old ones. This is because the new ones have pretty flat deliveries and haven't improved over the past 7 years whereas the old ones became alright-tier at around episode 20 and kept improving. Plus, James' voice actor was awesome, and so was Brock's. Because frying pans make best drying pans.
They had to change because 4kids lost the rights to the show.

I grew to like all the new voices, except for Sara's Ash. I still can't stand it. Jimmy Zoppi's voice for Meowth is still a little grating too, and it would be great to have Maddie back to do him, but that's never ever going to happen......

I think the acting got better with Tom Wayland as voice director, especially the Pokémon's voices. Iris and Cilan's actors are actually amazing - I would have watched the dub just for them if I didn't find the BW series to be beyond boring. And Tom is just a super cool guy (who I happen to know personally... sort of. he probably just thinks of me as that weird chick from that one Pokemon fansite who pops up every so often to obsess over a relatively obscure show he worked on years ago) and he really knows what he's doing.

Eric. At least, there was a part where 4Kids wanted him to be too flamboyant and it was like 'okay, this is beyond the normal comedy, is this *really* right?', from my understanding. So he wouldn't want to go back just to make his voice croak from doing too many squeals.

Both the pokemon anime and the digimon anime are good,the annoying thing is that most of the pokemon fanbase is just people that only complain about everything new that pokemon releases... new pokemon videogame? complain, new season for the pokemon anime? complain, they say that pokemon is becoming a ripoff of digimon... and the digimon fanbase is just the same, they say that digimon now sucks, that digimon is now a ripoff of pokemon, and that pokemon is now better... yep...

To be fair, the Pokemon anime does have a lot of fillers and lame storytelling from time to time. I like the comics better since the writer and artist actually captivates the Pokemon gaming universe

To be fair, despite 4Kids being a horseshit company, they DID hire pretty damn good voice actors despite the scripts they rewrite to be an even moar mountain of shit. Nostalgia is probably one reason, and that they're pretty good.

I staff at a certain Pokemon fansite, and I've seen more than my fair share of minor/potential lolcows (and shuddercows) while trying to keep the site safe and sane. Unfortunately, I don't feel like I'm at liberty to discuss the specifics of many of them, but as vaguely as possible, from the top of my head... there's the guy who would friend all the female members of the site and virtually hug/kiss them, engage them in borderline sexually harrassing activities, including a ten-year-old girl; the guy who insisted that Gary/Blue's hair was orange, not brown, and went into a rage when everyone else disagreed; all the people who ever make a huge deal over properly identifying characters' hair or eye colors, for that matter; the Japanese guy who went into an absolute rage because some young child on our site decided that "Jap" would be the logical abbreviation for the word "Japanese" while unaware of the historically negative connotations, and I was forced to be the one to deal with the guy because I was the only staff member who could speak Japanese; the guy who went on a tirade insisting that Lugia was a water-type and went ballistic when we tried to tell him he was wrong and threatened to crash a plane into the website (????)...

There have also been several kids who have been banned for being absolute twats, and then a day or so later their parents would email us demanding to know why their perfect unique snowflake child was banned and insisting that we undo the ban. (I think I've only seen one instance when a parent actually accepts the reasoning for the ban after we respond and explain what happened to them, and promise that they will talk to their child to make sure they understand what they did was wrong. All the other parents refuse to accept that their child is anything less than perfect.)

And then there are groups like shippers (Advanceshippers seem to be the most lolcow-worthy, somehow) and SOVA (Save Our Voice Actors, some of whom are still convinced that they can bring the original 4Kids voice actors back to their roles that have mostly been cycled out of the regular lineup).

And of course Serebii and WaterPokemonMaster.

She is (or was) in love with some random villian from the second Pokemon movie to the point where she wrote a 16 chapter fapfic of her Mary Sue and him bonking. She was also famous in the Pokemon LJ community for freaking out over every little thing. I miss her....

That was the only reason why I stopped watching Pokemon when Pokemon USA got the rights to the series. Sure, some of the old 4Kids VAs such as Jimmy Zopi and Ed Paul aka Ted Lewis, was brought in along for the ride. Getting rid of Veronica Taylor, Rachel Lillis, Eric Stuart, Maddie Blaustein, Dan Green, Wayne Grayson, Megan Hollingshead was a huge fucking mistake, Pokemon USA ever did and one reason why I saw the rest of Pokemon Advanced in Japanese...

Sorry lol ! Srsly though, the show is more aimless wandering, and filled with useless filler than Dragonball Z, ( that is saying something by anime standards.)
At least there was some goal in DBZ ( I.e fight the evil monster who is stronger than the previous one) Pokemon, really has no end or aim in sight beyond catching one more pokemon... I liked the show when I was a young lad though. The cards were all the rage from about 1999- very early 2001. Do books of them still get stolen from kids lockers?

(Maybe, perhaps, because they're not marketable...?)

I used to regular on Serebii for about three years. In that time I only had one major clash with this one guy who I'm pretty sure was a retard. I don't remember exactly what it was about. Probably something about me liking a character he hated and him taking offence. There was also this one time three or four members ganged up on me for sugesting the 3DS - not yet revealed at the time - might have a different button layout than the DS. Not since Rangerboard have I regulared such a spergy forum.

As absolutely ludicrous as the Hurricane Katrina stuff was, that definitely shouldn't be considered the norm for BJR. I'm not gonna whiteknight her or anything, but in all my first-hand contact with her she's always been perfectly nice and civil. There are waaaay worse Pokemon lolcows out there.

But by all means feel free to laugh about the hurricane thing. I know I did.
