Dude, Aron is half Steel Type. It would be hit normally by Ember. Are you sure you're not mistaken on which Pokémon it was? That being said, a weak attack like Ember killing anything, especially coming from a low level Pokémon like that, is stupid enough to begin with, so it doesn't matter all that kuch.
 
Speaking of forums which one is worse, Serebii or Bulbagarden?

Bulbagarden devolved into a sanitized sjw safe space. I checked up on it recently and quite a number of long timers are now gender specials. Has the same happened to the Serebii staff?

I'd say Bulbagardens mostly because while Serebii are also doped up on SJW ideologies they are a little more lax than Bulbagardens when it comes to thoughts and opinions. They also have a place specifically for debate on political issues so none of it seeps into the rest of the forums excluding the gay/bi/whatever alliance club. Last time I was there it was the discord where things had to be a bit more hugboxy.

That being said SPPf's transition to the most primitive form of XenForo and taking away member post ranks for the sake of "equality" is what really killed a lot of traffic there.
 
I've always heard the Bulbagardens was awful, a lot of people fled there to register to Serebii some years back, but most of those folks have also left because, well, toxicity spreads. Even if they didn't carry it over themselves, there's a bit of an overlap with the mods and everything that happens at the top makes its way down.

The debate subforum is practically dead lol no one wants to go in there anymore, so that's become a hugbox, too. But it's an obvious hugbox, so that's why people avoid it like the plague, at least I remember it began dying/getting its negative reputation once Dattebayo got banned (he would post a lot of stupid shit in Debates, so it was popular to gang up on him there). The U.S. politics thread used to be engaging, but Serebii's biggest conservative, BigLutz, left because of real life around 2014, and it soon devolved into your typical political faggotry and around 2017 I believe (it was around the time of the 2016 elections) had to be moved to Miscellaneous Polls because it attracted the most "spammers" there to boost their postcount. With the removal of post ranks making the move obsolete, now it doesn't matter, but the politics thread has become a TDS hugbox only a small handful of likeminded posters have been posting in since 2018.

Also far as I can tell, the subforum's death knell first rang with the pornography thread ten years ago and that devolved into a shitstorm real fast, oh my God in hindsight that was actually amazing to watch in real time. Once that was locked (it might've been deleted with Ethan's rampage, I haven't checked EDIT: Nope, it lived! 19 pages.), sometime afterward they enacted a new rule in which sure, you can submit a new thread, but then it had to get moderation approval in order to show up. It was small, but it discouraged a lot of new threads from being made, and so they dropped that rule around 2013. But even then, if the topic didn't "adhere to the rules/right mindset", it was locked or just died/was ripped apart, so only "hot button" topics got activity, and even then the debates went out of control. So once BigLutz left, the subforum's infrastructure weakened drastically, and with Trump's election, it soon crumbled in on-itself and is just rubble now.

Keeping the starting date enabled, by page five you start seeing threads from 2014. It was a trickle-down.
 
I never really went on Serebii much but with Bulbagarden I remember the mods were unstable as fuck. Biggest offenders outside of Archaic being Dogasu, Evil Figment, Ketsuban, Saturn Yoshi, and a few others I forgot.

Why is this stuff even on a Pokemon forum? It really confuses me why forums even add stuff like this to their off-topic sections.
Is it just so that members of the same community can also reveal their thoughts about politics to each other?
I just don't quite get how those debates are even there on that site because all of those topics just make me think "well why don't they go to a forum focused on it to discuss that".

Have something to add myself as well, there were old forums for Pokemon games on Neoseeker. I remember having an account there and posting for other games, and it seemed like quite a shitshow to me.
I can't really pinpoint how it seemed like a shitshow to me but I just remember looking at the forums, kind of wanting to post about Pokemon too but never doing it because something about the communities seemed inaccesible and weird to me.
I liked Pokemon but could never get into any of the communities because they always seemed very cliquey and a bit cringy to me.
 
No kidding. Politics and shit is exactly what I come to my children's fighting monsters fan forum to talk about, for sure. Kids today don't know how to escapism, I tell you what.

I remember thinking Dogasu and his backpack were cool because of all the translations he provided, but you're right, he got a complex about it. And about being in the Bulba Inner Circle (with nudes, probably).

I didn't like Evil Figment back in the day, but I can't really remember why. If he's the same person I think he is, because he changed his name, he acted like the fanfic forum god, especially when other members stroked his massive ego? That seems to be the way all mods go, eventually.

My favorite Bulbagarden story is how Ketsuban had a legit meltdown on there and deviantArt about being "neutrois" (gender neutral before tumblr existed and made it trendy) and not having the option to select something other than male or female on dropdowns. She got banned from dA for harassing staff about it. Then like 2 years later she went back to being a cis lesbian and married a woman. It's all deleted now, I sure wish it wasn't.

In terms of characters, I could sperg about how he actually *did* grow to become a better trainer just to get regressed back to his arrogant newbie personality in Best Wishes, but that dead horse has been beaten too many times. Besides, Ash isn't as much of a lolcow as Brock is, let's be honest here. Brock is literally unable to get laid. Hell, something happened between him and Professor Ivy, the hottest character in the show. That failure alone makes him a lolcow.

The most sympathetic lolcow has to be Tracey Sketchit, though. The poor sap was created to be Brock's replacement, then was dumped off at Oak's lab to be the professor's personal fuckboi when his usefulness ended and he hasn't been in the anime (or at least hasn't had a speaking role) in years. He's as much of a punching bag with fans as Ash is.

Fair enough, but doesn't Brock now have a girlfriend? He's considerably more Chad than ash could be. All these girls throwing themselves at ash and all he cares for is his electric rat.

Meowth also got cockblocked by a Persian, but he cockblocked himself by becoming human thinking Meowzie would find that hot, and now he's forever stuck as a Meowth. Team Rocket in general are just a trio of lolcows when you think about it.

I remember Ketsuban’s meltdown, it was hilarious.

Evil Figment is trans now and is on Twitter routinely white knighting the usual Twitter crowd. EF also recently left Bulbagarden, apparently due to drama over the Christchurch shooting between staff members.

Not only do they fail with their own schemes, they actively fuck up the plans of more competent Rocket members such as Bitch and Cassidy.
 
Well SwSh truely brought out the crazy in everyone. Between Serebii shilling GF hard and Distant Kingdom’s antics on social media everyone on both sides has gone full lolcow. I remember Serebii being upset over dext when the new broke only to take his words back.
