That's the same generation that let you change natures via Mints and change Pokeball of your Pokemon(via DLC of course), right? Not surprised.Slight correction there - they changed that in Gen 8. Vitamins can now be used to EV Train up to 510 EV’s.
It’s still ludicrously expensive, I won’t deny that, but considering they made it doable the same generation that introduced Raids as Endgame content? It’s technically fundable, especially considering how easy the games are these days - money becomes a non-issue fast after all.
Well then, EV training is still the optimal way to raise a Pokemon in Gens 3-7 then. Gens 1 and 2 have no cap on EVs so you can theoretically max out everything given time, but nobody ever does this. Even in competitive people play on simulators, not, you know, on the N64 or a Game Boy via Link Cables. This is also one of the reasons why Crystal's Battle Tower is not fun at all, enemy will always have max EV Pokemon in everything and you probably never will, putting you at a massive disadvantage.
