Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Possibly, but you could do that with basically any other trainer in the series. She's still the new biggest badass.

Here's the math for Lucario. It's not an OHKO, but with that Sash, it's getting at least two hits in.

Could you get around it with the right boosts or a bit of moody luck? Sure. But there's also Togekiss, Spiritomb, and others.
>Moody
I only need Swords Dance. Simple or Unaware work wonders too.

So I haven't gotten this fucking new remake game but I've heard/seen from friends that the game literally throws mew and jirachi at you via random NPCS that straight up break the fourth wall but not in a cleveer way like old pokemon games did. Literally just shit like " Since you played in kanto in pokemon lets go..." and you know the rest. Anyways this shit fucking aggravates me but also shows how fucking soulless pokemon has become. There's an entire dropped plotpoint from that shit gamefreak added to the deluxe editions of sun and moon with giovanni stealing timeline hopper fuckery tech you could EASILY have done something like a cutscene where some shady dude with a familiar face labeled "???" shows up and just shuffles mew and jirachi into your inventory or whatever, it'd make a lot more fucking sense than some generic ass nameless farmer spouting 4th wall breaking corporate speak.

Who cares? They're gift pokemon you get from having entries that are poorly received by most of the fanbase.

Besides, there are better things you could point to for the games' "soullessness" rather than NPCs not having flavor text for when they gift you free legendary pokemon. I don't even own those games so it's not like I'll see this "problem".

There's a lot more issues blatantly and I wasn't trying to make it seem like that was the worst thing lmao, it's just more or less an extra topping on the shit sundae. It's more than just a "gift pokemon" thing in this instance, those are usually "you get pokemon in your inventory at some specific location made specifically for trading" Not going on about flavor text shit either. I'm talking about presentation. Shit like this in pre-switch times was usually presented as a secret optional story cutscene that would trigger via save data shit or some specific pokemon being in your party. here it's just "nameless farmer NPCS posessed by nintendo/gamefreak PR team hands you ancient pokemon"

Unintentionally funny shit though for real.

I guess, but for gift pokemon like these, that effort is needless. They weren't a part of the development cycle, so making a little side quest for pokemon that some players could miss out on getting entirely isn't nessacary imo.

Up to the second gym now and so far feeling very mixed, glad the music has made it feel less like a mobile game but EXP share and the lack of rebalancing breaks the game completely in half, I can barely stay in an area because by the time I clear it I'm way too over leveled. I found that there's mods to turn off exp share and affection (with the later one being immensely good but just makes me wonder why it's not just an option since otherwise all you can do is just feed a pokemon a shit ton of herbs), The battle backgrounds are nice and I like the underground encounters, but it along with the lack of platinum content just make it feel good, but like a missed opportunity, they really had a chance to make something on the level of HGSS and they sorta blew it, but hey at least they kept legendary events like shaymin the way they did.
also they seem to use alot of platinums shit but keep it at an arms length, it's very weird and comes off that they want to use it as nostalgia but not for inspiration to make it the best of gen 4 as a whole
also here's an article what's everyone's thoughts on it other than just feeling like PR bullshit?

Nice to know that they hear fan feedback, but I feel the backlash from Dexit (and by extension HOME) was extreme but understandable. People want to have the ability to use their pokemon across entries and being cucked out of doing that due to their pokemon not existing in that game was probably pretty upsetting.

The company needs the harsh critique to help it improve, but this does feel like PR bs. The can make the games more accessible, but that doesn't player should be given the option to do things such as adjust the game's difficulty and so on.

Almost nothing about modern Pokemon makes me MATI, but forced exp share makes me wanna take a plane to Japan and dropkick whatever nip thought it was a good idea. I could stomach dexit(I always like trying new pokemon each game anyways) and most of the other problems with SwSh I could overlook, but forced exp share caused me to drop the game pretty early on. Difficulty isn't even the main concern, it feels wrong to use a pokemon once, have it sit in my party, and by the next time I use it a few levels have gone by. Played White 2 afterwards and got my ass handed to me early on because my backups were underleveled.

I guess it'll force me to play like my child-self and rush through, avoiding encounters.

Anyone have spare zacian they'd be willing to part with? I went the other day to get a code but they were all sold out lmfao. It's cool if not, figured I'd try my luck here.

I posted a Game.uk link a while back that lets you get both Zacian and Zamazenta codes for free.
Shiny Zacian codes (and Zamazenta come the 11th/4th of November) are currently being given out at GameStop, but if you're lazy like me you can just use GAME UK's code giveaway page to score a Shiny Zacian code and Shiny Zamazenta code without dealing with the employees at your local store (and if you're Sword player, waiting a few days to get your code).

But be warned, the codes are version-locked (Shield gets Shiny Zacian while Sword gets Shiny Zamazenta).
Oh, and in addition to the warning in the original post about the codes being version-locked the event's set to end next week.

>Box legendaries and starters aren't shiny locked anymore.
>But forced EXP Share is still a thing.

Not going to lie the idea of hacking the games to patch in EXP/Affection boosts is extremely tempting but I've only just come to terms with transferring my GBA saves so I can patch in unobtainable event items so I have no fucking clue if I could ever wrap my head around the idea of modding a Switch game.

affection and exp share off mods are pretty easy to impliment on emulator, now item injections is a completely other story that I haven't been able to get down for the life of me, guess I'll wait for PkHex to work so I can get platinum evos pre post game

What's the question?
I was gonna get into OU and make a Garchomp team, but always had trouble thinking of what mons to fill a team out with. How do I get better at figuring this out? What would you suggest for Pokemon for a OU Garchomp team, with him being Setup Sweeper?
How difficult is it to set up teams these days? Am I going to need any older gen games beyond just the gen 4 remake and SnS?

I'm assuming you're talking about smogon rules, in which case you might run into some issues because official matchmaking on pokemon games doesn't follow smogon's rules and doesn't have tiers. If you want to do official matchmaking, it depends on what game and what the vgc rules are because that changes what pokemon are allowed. If you have your heart set on smogon you're probably better off just using pokemon showdown.

As far as team-building goes, though, start with your core. Take the pokemon you want to use (in this case Garchomp), and then look at it and think about what it's weaknesses are. Then, find a pokemon that covers most of those in a way you think is acceptable. Then you build off of there. Your team has Garchomp and its teammate, so what is the hardest thing for them to handle? Add a pokemon that covers that. You sort of just go like that until you have something basic set up, and then after testing it a bit you'll iron out the kinks. If you're brand new, though, I'm sure you can find plenty of cookie-cutter teams on any given competitive pokemon subreddit/forum/etc.

If you only want to play on BDSP, you shouldn't need Sw/Sh since afaik, all 493 mons should be available. If you want to do Sw/Sh battling though (which you'd want if you get into vgc most likely, since all official tournaments are Sw/Sh only), then you'd probably want it + the DLC. Actually breeding and training teams is piss easy these days, you can crank out a few 'mons in an afternoon if you really tryhard it while watching a movie or something.

This has been more or less what I was looking for sans literal spoonfeeding, which hopefully I won't need. Thank you. I see, so VGC is a diff thing. And Showdown for Smogon things. Also, I'll prob pick up SnS anyways as I'd rather not just lock myself to one thing.

Is it possible to breed with hidden abilities, or what will i need to do if I jump down the hole of IV's?

Just as a heads up, the official games have both singles (which is just normal battles with whatever ban list they decide) and doubles (also known as VGC), with doubles being the official format for all the big important tournaments that you can win cash from. Singles vs Doubles are really different, so it's all a matter of personal preference unless you wanna go pro, then you just do whatever big daddy N says. Setup Sweepers have a much harder time in doubles, though, since it's a lot faster paced and not as kind to pokemon with achilles' heels.

Smogon has a whole big article here about breeding in gen 8, which should probably be pretty useful.

Nah, I ain't in it for the money. I'm just slowly getting back into Pokemon after gen 4 and was gonna do some things for fun.

Do we know if the remakes have improved some mons movepools yet? The mongs refuse to give Empoleon Roost despite giving it to Dodrio who is also a flightless bird. Mantine has access to Roost and plenty of non flying types do as well so I think they just hate Empoleon.

SWSH was good for expanding a lot of movepools with TRs but with TMs reverting back to single use I'm not hopeful.
