Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

It's probably the videogame series I am most knowledgeable about. Oftentimes the behind-the-scenes details on the franchise can be really fascinating, especially considering that the franchise itself was a short ways away from never coming out during the development of Red and Green(Almost lost all of their data once, six years of development hell, no one close to the team having confidence in them making a game for a 7-year old handheld system that was at it's lowest point popularity-wise, one third of the staff of Game Freak resigning, ect)

Funnily enough, it actually isn't my favorite game series. I can't really consider any of the games mind-blowingly good, but it's like a comfort food of sorts, something familiar and predictable in many ways, and has many addicting qualities to it that make it possible for me to even replay my least favorite titles in the mainline series without feeling like I'm torturing myself.
What is your favourite game series, though?

Some new details from SV revealed.

It appears that the embargo for the media event for content creators, that took place in New York, has been lifted, which is why you are seeing all of this new info come out:

One issue that was brought up, mainly in the NintendoLife video, is the performance issues with the game. The videos from the people that played the English version of the game, said that they were playing on an older build, as the previews from the Japanese videos don't appear to have the same performance issues. However, the "this is not the final build" statement is worrying, given that it's bringing flashbacks to Battlefield 2042's beta, where DICE said that it is on a 3 month old build of the game, and we all know how that game turned out. It also resembles what happened with the My Wedding Stories Game Pack for The Sims 4, where the devs and EA Creator Network people, said that the extremely buggy game footage was from an earlier build of the game, and not in the final version of the pack, and yet all of the bugs were in the actual release of the GP.

Also, the videos included pre-provided footage from Nintendo/Game Freak/TPCi, as content creators were not allowed to record footage of their gameplay, to prevent leaks. Joe from Serebii mentioned that he found a Shiny Skiddo while playing the game.

I am reminded of all of the talk regarding Sword and Shield, supporters justifying the pre-release footage by claiming tha the footage was not of the final build!

It's almost hilarious how people still believe the "It's still in beta bro" nonsense. If the game is coming out next month and it still runs like garbage then it's going to run like garbage.

Barring fixing some obscure bug that was causing YUUGE lags, those last-minute changes are almost definitely not possible so late in the development pipeline, especially since there is the need of making the master, printing all of the copies complete with packaging, and coordinating to stores. Th is not 1996, where Satoshi could secretly add Mew after getting rid of all of the debug material; game systems are WAY more complex these days.

With that said, if the performance issues are only in one language version and the Japanese version is already in place, that does imply the fix is in. It may end up being a day 0 patch, though.

It’s certainly not the first time pokemon’s done that. People were bemoaning the midis of BDSP, but the day 1 patch replaced them with the new versions that had already been in the trailers.

Digging the design for Greavard (granted I'm biased, Ghost is my favorite typing and I like dogs):

I like the jack-o-lantern mouth design they gave it. Just hope its evolution is great, too.

It appears that the Taiwanese game cover for S/V may have been leaked. There's no confirmation yet if the leaker has the game cartridge as well, or if the game box is only for display:

This does seem to line up with how someone got a copy of Sword/Shield early (11/1), and leaked the game.

The oddly centred 'Scarlet'/'Violet' characters make the boxes look fake.

They're display cases, the back of the cases lack bar codes.
