Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I want to go hard on it as well, when I have the time. Let's all lynch Wolfe Glick together, or some anime bullshit like that

Bottle caps are 20,000 Pokedollars a pop now and also drop from Tera Raids. So if you'd rather grind raids for caps and money than hatch eggs, there's really no need to breed anymore for the most part. Egg moves can be passed instantly with a mirror herb and a picnic as mentioned earlier in the thread.

One exception is building for Wonder Room or Trick Room. Pokemon with minimal speed work best in Trick Room, and you can't use a bottle cap to lower a Pokemon's IV. So you have to breed for 0 IV in Speed if you want it. Same for if you want the shittiest Defense/Special Defense possible for Wonder Room
Thanks, I don't have the game yet but I to try some casual vgc battles when I do.

found my first shiny in pokemon scarlet

...and it's a fucking lechonk. it's pink. and female. this actually matters in terms of ability because male and female lechonk have different abilities. of course that would imply anyone would use lechonk in the first place.

It's cute, though. I wish Contests were still a thing.

Also, I can't edit my last post, but to clarify, there's no reason to have 0IV in Defense for Wonder Room. Speed is basically the only trait you NEED to find in the wild/breed for. Good luck to all my niggas trying to find minimum Speed Iron Hands

*AHEM*
I've started playing Scarlet now that I'm mostly done with Violet, and I found this little cutie just outside of Los Platos. That's right—I haven't even reached the academy yet.

I already had my team planned out, but I couldn't resist this one after seeing its evoved shiny form (sorry, Veluza):

Ey! I would use Oinkologne!
kek it's gonna rot in my box, i can't justify using a solo normal type pokemon, even if it is shiny.

so, interesting thing i learned about shinies in pokemon scarlet/violet. everyone knows that we lost the shiny sound and overworld glow so finding them is much more difficult. however, if you're using the outbreak method, autobattling actually is a viable strategy because your pokemon simply won't fight a shiny pokemon. i didn't test the method myself because my shiny lechonk just kinda showed up out of nowhere in front of me, but it's something worth looking into if you're hunting for shiny pokemon that are only /slightly/ different from their normal form, so you won't have to pan the camera around to see if a pokemon has a different eye color or some shit.

Not a huge Pokemon fan but this thread has caught my curiosity. The state of current year Pokémon games seem baffling to me. Two questions for this thread, When was the last good mainline Pokémon game? And when was the last time it seem like GameFreak at least tried to make a good Pokémon game (it does not have to be good it just needs feel like they at least put effort into it)?

SV is good but hamstrung by technical problems. I've enjoyed it a lot, having your box available everywhere is so nice for letting you try out every pokemon you catch instead of just getting caught in using the same six
The last good in all departments was B2W2

SV i feel qualifies for the latter at least, i feel. like i said, there's tonnes of little details and stuff that can only come from a dev that gives a shit.

SV's state i very much compare to skyrim, it's an open world with a lot of fun stuff in it, and most of the bugs can be exploited by the players to break the game in fun ways.

Even Snorlax? It's one of the best Mono Normal type pokemon in the game!

Seriously though, I understand. When I reach the later parts of the game, I'd much prefer more interesting typed pokemon as well.

And yet, Snorlax got cut from S/V, along with Lapras. And those two were also very notable and popular Gen 1 Pokémon.

GameFreak’s problem isn’t that they’re not trying, it’s that they’re so dedicated to keeping things in-house and not expanding too much that they’re now too small to handle such big games on the release schedule they’re currently on.

On one hand, their small development team for a major game franchise does hold them back a lot, but haven't they been shown to be lacking in competence too? It also reminds me of Polyphony Digital, who develops the Gran Turismo games. Gran Turismo 7 had a 5+ year development cycle, and even with that, the game was rushed.

That’s what I meant when I saying that, yeah. They lack the manpower and the full know how. On the one hand, I can appreciate them not wanting to become so bloated with new staff and such that the games lose the appeal they had, which happens with a lot of game companies, but this is reaching the opposite extreme, where it’s actively hitting the product by not expanding.

Mine was a Veluza while going through the story. Not bad but after going in blind and then realizing how limited it is in terms of stats (and didn't have its HA at the time) it really sucked some of the air out of the find. I don't get how they justify its overworld behavior when they stick it with speed lower than a literal ice whale.

I feel like Pokemon Black/White and their sequels were the last time I TRULY enjoyed a new Pokemon game. I played X and Y, but was underwhelmed even if roller blading at break neck speeds felt satisfying and there was some fun to be had. I started Sun/Moon, but made it past picking my Pokemon and just kinda set it down, never to pick it up again. I don't know what really turned me off, I just sort of didn't care like all my hype had been utterly crushed by the opening segment.

Right now I'm emulating Emerald on my phone and having a blast repeatedly losing my Nuzlocke challenge (I'll fucking murder you NORMAN!!!!). I haven't played Legends Arceus, but I'm considering it if I can find it on sale.

Legends Arceus is 100% worth it if you find it on sale! Fingers crossed for you since Nintendo games are pretty notorious for not going on sale. I do think if you have a WalMart in your area they do sell their games $10 less than retail for whatever reason.

It appears that The Act Man, the same one who checks notes tried to cancel some skitzo nigger is the next in line in "prolific million sub gaming channels" to complain about the state of Scarlet and Violet quite some time after it was cool to do so.

"WTH WITH THESE GLITCHES"

I dunno faggot what about them? Have you seen how the pokemon community has received these games? They are the biggest critics of Sword and Shield so I think that'd be important.

Do you perhaps need me to compensate for a disability like dyslexia or irlen syndrome that would help with your reading comprehension to help you understand the whole post rather than fixating on one word? I can happily change the color or font for you.

Bringing back options and features from earlier games and adding voice acting is not going to cripple the game, now that I'm thinking about it I wish they'd bring back L=A as well which is another accessibility feature for people with only one hand. I don't specifically know God of War but I'm generally pro-accessibility *options*, particularly subtitles and screen readers. I'm sorry the existence of menus you can completely ignore offends you so much.
You ca actually set up L=A in the Switch accessibility settings. Only for Joy Cons and Pro Controllers though, but it's better than nothing and more flexible than a single option in a single game.

Last good mainline for me is now Scarlet and Violet. Cool legendries, three good story arcs compared to Gens 6-8, more good new Pokemon than bad new Pokemon, and the world felt very alive. First Gym battle against the Bug woman and a random rain shower comes through and saves her from my Fuecoco.

The final story battle with Nemona when she gets to go all out was my favorite in a long time, Arven's and Penny's stories were great, then you have the "post-game" chapter to tie it all together. Outside the technical problems, which I didn't encounter many personally because I knew to reset the game occasionally, it was the best Pokemon game since at least Gen 5 for me. Since Legends: Arceus was developed parallel to SV, I assume a lot of Legends' improvements will make it into Gen 10, like catching Pokemon outside battle, mass release, and maybe Frotbite as a status instead of Freeze.

This is all without even touching on comp, where they drastically reigned in the power level by not having transfer moves. Powerful moves are now rarer, which has let unconventional Pokemon like Murkrow thrive.

Finally finished collecting one shiny of every Fairy Type for my battle box (fully evolved anyway, almost every NFE Pokemon is too niche even for me). Just some notes for anyone trying for these Pokemon. Fairy sandwiches are obligatory unless stated otherwise.

-Iron Valiant/ Scream Tail/ Flutter Mane:
No advice needed, all easy. I have Violet, but I would imagine a Psychic sandwich would be better for Scream Tail, and I know Flutter Mane can easily be exploited with a Ghost sandwich during the day. Valiant is pretty straight forward since it only spawns in one location anyway.

-Florges:
Extremely rare spawn already, and Floette is too damn small in it's spawn areas full of colorful flowers to reliably see (found mine by complete accident way earlier in the game). Masuda this one unless you want to drive yourself insane with the sandwich.

-Mimikyu/Grimsnarl:
Found in the same area (Tagtree Thicket). Impidimp/Morgrem is easy to spot because it's a wildly different color to it's regular variant, Mimikyu is a different story. I recommend trying for Mimikyu at night as the muted yellow and the red cheeks of the normal one stand out much better in the darkness, while the shiny will look almost white. I found mine during the day, but it's one of the few times I would say my experience as a pixel artist came in handy, the normal and the shiny almost look the exact same with the daytime lighting, the shiny is just a nut hair brighter. Masuda may be the better option.

-Wigglytuff/Tinkaton:
North Province Area One. North east corner where the cliff side meets with the unclimbable mountain. May get a wall spawn, but it's a good secluded area to force spawn a ton of both families.

-Gardevoir:
DAYTIME ONLY
Take the south exit out of Montenevera, cross the bridge, and continue up the path until you reach the flat area with a single tree. This area will spawn 3 Gardevoir with 4 Ralts following every time you move into the loading area. The path that continues up the mountain has no spawns until much farther up, simply go up and down this sections while watching the flat area to make sure you're going far enough to despawn. I've used this spot multiple times and never seen a Gardevoir actually pop shiny, it's always the Ralts, so you definitely want to keep more attention on them.

-Hatterene/Daschbun/Azumarill:
Neither is really difficult, doggo does have some type overlap at most of it's spawn points though. Easy enough to spot however.

-Sylveon:
Don't even bother trying to sandwich hunt the Eeveelutions. They all have type overlap with atleast 2 Pokemon in their spawn areas, and even with sandwich buffs, they're still pretty infrequent to even get to spawn. Just Masuda.

-Klefki:
Shares the issue with Floette of just being unreasonable to actually spot in the overworld. Used a Steel sandwich around Alfornada 5-6 times and couldn't spot one at all (probably missed one everytime too). I'd say Masuda this one, but it's not impossible to do with a sandwich, you're just going to be at it forever. I got lucky and hatched one after about 15 eggs... Though it's kind of hard to call it luck when I had been trying for several hours previously, I think the game was just taking pity on me.

-Dedenne:
Another small one, but the color difference is very pronounced. Electric sandwich. Don't bother searching around Medali, too many Voltorbs for it to compete with. North Province Area Three. Hug the western cliff side (don't climb it) and move back and forth between the cliff and rock formation that's close to the beach (it's on grass, not sand). This area will spawn only Dedenne (and occasional things on the rock formation where the sand and grass meet as it's a different type of spawn point) so long as you don't move too far forward towards the beach. If you go too far forward towards the beach, you'll spawn the Pawmi and Wattrel line. This indicator is very helpful for learning the boundaries of this particular spawn point.
