Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Not gonna lie i'm glad I stopped buying pokemon games after USUM. Pokemon games got way more expensive and have less content than ever before.

What i'm reading from the thread honestly makes me glad I noped out now. My wallet is also infinitely happier for it.

I just play pokemon showdown if I want to battle now. If I have an itch it's just playing a rom hack now because apparently the Fans can make a better rom hack than what gamefreak an actual company can produce for a game.

I have been looking into the Persona 2 duology and modding the Final Fantasy VIII Remaster.
Maybe those would be tter ALTernatives.

Here is the thing, if you want to 100% each game(shiny hunting, pokedex completion, breeding, battle facilities ect.) then they are actually really good bang for your buck. If you haven't 100% done every single game(and you haven't, this shit will take years of your time unless you're a neet) then why not go for it instead of settling for mediocrity? You find out more about the game as a whole and forced to learn systems the game never explains to you. Battle Facilities themselves are a wake up call if you only played single player, you will literally have to get gud on the same level as actual competitive pros in VGC or Showdown if you want to even stand a chance, complete with making a proper competitive team.
Even if you do all that, there is still ROMhacks and fanmade challenges like Nuzlocke. I really don't know why you would play the newest shitty mainline games when they're worse than anything released before, officially or by fans. Only game worth your time since USUM is Arceus Legends.

Showdown is gay and full of cheaters. Never waste your time on a game where jannies control anything. They are always glownigger faggots pushing an agenda and will be more than happy to permaban you on a whim.

3DS Bros, it's over... (archive)

I was just about to post this (although in my case I would've just linked to the post in the subforum's Nintendo Switch General).

In all honesty the 3DS games are a bit funky online-wise, almost every Pokémon on the GTS are hacked in such a way that they can cause errors to the person on the responding end while most of their other features are barely used. That said I wouldn't be surprised if Pokémon fans pulled a DS Server Mk.2 make their own 3DS servers to fill the niche. Well, that and distribute a bunch of long-discontinued Event Pokémon available via Wi-Fi.

I do find it funny that Pokémon Bank will remain usable even after the 3DS's death day comes, I wonder if it has to do with The Pokémon Company handling those servers rather than them being in Nintendo's ballpark?

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet - Unobtainable Pokémon

Not surprised there is no Jynx. And the reason Jynx was changed to look eggplant-like and an episode involving her was cancelled in the USA? An American "cultural critic" found Jynx to be offensive and complained about it -- and this was well before Current Year. Since Pokemon was really popular in the West, Japanese staff listened to her?

Oh, and noticed this back on Monday but Event Mass Outbreaks like the Clefairy event we got last weekend function jut like event raids do so they're farmable as long as you don't connect to the internet/Pokemon Portal News.
This reminds me I need to transfer my old mons to Pokémon Home before Game Freak pulls the plug on bank and I lose them forever
Same, there are some real gems I have back in Gens V-through-VII I'd like to bring over before TPC pulls the plug. That and I want to see if I can abuse the fuck outta Gen VI and V's fan-built Wi-Fi servers to farm Legendaries and Mythicals. I know I could technically do that from GO but I don't want to wait a week between transferring Shiny Legendaries and Mythicals.

EDIT: I mixed up one of the games in the second spoiler.

Jynx was present in SWSH via The Crown Tundra and BDSP so I think GF is just giving the poor thing a break due to Current Year's sociopolitical scene. Also, if the leak I brought up earlier ITT is any indication that list will get a bit smaller.

That's a shame, got some good memories with Gen 7, and to an extent, Gen 6.
I found GTS and Battle Spot to be somewhat dead in both games, but it's nice to use them once in a while. I will miss Wonder Trade, however, good way to get a lot of good pokemon for basically nothing, you can literally just catch low level pokemon en masse or breed them and go ham.
Lots of people with high end/rare pokemon giving them away because they breed literally hundreds of them for the perfect IV/Nature combo, and there is some cheeky genners who will send over legendary/shiny/competitive pokemon sometimes. All of that will be gone in April, and even if fans restore it Wonder Trade still won't be the same since the whole point is that a whole bunch of people are doing it at the same time as to always have someone to trade with.
Doesn't the Xbox Live Marketplace also shutdown around the same time? I really need to dedicate my time to buy up all the good games left on the marketplace and Wonder Trade/GTS hunt some good pokemon

Xbox Live Marketplace is getting shut down near the end of July so there's a bit of a gap between the two deaths.

I remember the episoden arning here in Eruop. American are so senaetiv lol
Violence and gore seem to be A-OK here in Burgerland. But if there is the slightest hint of "racism" or "sexualization", then that is a different story to many Americans.

Maybe it just played once in USA.
It did. After one airing of "Holiday Hi-Jynx", it ceased to be aired in the USA because of "racism" AFAIK.

I could've sworn I saw it too. The Santa Claus episode right, with Ash freezing to death with his Pokemon in a cave? Maybe it just played once in USA.
According to Bulbapedo it was apparently pulled from syndication shortly after being aired so it's possible that it only got a single airing before being vaulted (it was technically available via VHS, the original issue Indigo League Volume 3 DVD pack set, and on some of Cartoon Network's old video-on-demand services).

Oh, and funnily the episode was re-aired in Japan back in 2012 to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the episode's originally-planned air date. The only catch is that Jynx was edited to match the newer look.

Here's the original episode...

Carole Boston Weatherford, a cultural critic, claimed that Jynx, which appeared in Holiday Hi-Jynx, was a negative stereotype of African-Americans in an article titled "Politically Incorrect Pokémon" on the magazine Black World Today. She chiefly compared Jynx to the racist characters in The Story of Little Black Sambo and further compared Jynx to Drag Queens and Mr. Popo of the Dragon Ball franchise, another character who is also potentially offensive in his design.

Weatherford's complaint caused many repercussions in the Pokémon franchise. [...]
