Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Playing thru FRR, I've noticed something I haven't felt in decades: Sense of wonder what's behind the next patch of grass. Ever since I finished all the mainline games from Gen 1-7, I knew what I would encounter in every area on repeat playthrus, from trainers to wild Pokemon. This did let me prepare better for encounters or plan out my team composition better, sure, but it robbed me of that sense of adventure you only get on your first playthru. Well, I kind of have that now all over again, you truly don't know what's going to pop up in the next area so the thought keeps me playing. The trainers are a bit disappointing since their teams haven't changed from base FRLG(and they were hardly better than the boring teams of GRB), but at least I get to test the new Pokemon in a familiar environment.

I can confirm you can get every Gen 1 starter very early on, just like in Yellow. Right under Cerulean, in the same area as the Daycare, there is a brand new patch of grass that only holds Charmander/Bulbasaur/Squirtle for your catching pleasure. This means that not only are you able to easily catch a female variant of these Pokemon, but in any ball you choose. This wouldn't be possible in the mainline games until Gen 7 with the QR code event Pokemon. As a collector, I am very pleased that I finally have a spot where I can farm these rare Pokemon, and I am only looking forward to finally getting access to areas with wild Legendaries as well.

It's shit like this that makes me miss Masuda all the more. Say what you want about his era, but I will completely discount any blind retard who can't see how much he truly loved the concept of the franchise. Regardless of the gameplay, regardless of the arguable stagnation, it is impossible to deny how dedicated Masuda was to making the world work and it is the main reason I cannot in good faith truly adore any game past X or Y. Not even ORAS, as strange as that sounds, due to all the retarded timeline bullshit and insulting changes to Hoenn's traversal.

I really REALLY hope Ohmori just gets fucking booted after the disasters that generations 8 and 9 have been. He's already had as much time in the position as Masuda and yet has done so much less, on so many levels, in so many ways. I wouldn't dare ask for Masuda to return after what generation 5 did to him, but I'd love someone with an equally-bright spark regarding the older-school worldbuilding to take the helm.
The same people who eat the modern slop up are the same people who shit on Gen 5 the hardest and shattered Masuda's dreams. In that sense, at least we find some ironic karmic justice here. Hope crying about "muh ice cream cone, muh garbage bag" was worth it now that the games are worse in every aspect than ever before. Say what you want about Masuda era games, at least they had charm to them. These days, the games just feel like interactive movies with difficulty dropping with every new release.

I'm almost done with the base Galar Pokédex. I just have to obtain the Type: Null line now, they're going to be a pain to get since they're only available in the post-game as a gift Pokémon in the Battle Tower.

With that said I'm taking a smallish break from completing the SWSH Pokédexes in order to farm Shiny Paradox Pokémon, I usually get Legendaries for 'em when I throw 'em onto the GTS.
When I see fan-made pocketmons cards online, they always have ludicrous HP and moves. Looks like they are always made by little kids.
On the one hand I like these cards because they remind me how shitty some of the games made by Pokémon TCG fans, MetaZoo and Elestrals being two that I know of.

On the other, it reminds me that there's a BIG market for custom cards and some those are definitely NSFW.

A good custom card could be this kiwi birb on an innertube, Colorless (kiwis are not water birds), like 50 to 70 HP, and some move which does like 20 or 30 for 1 or 2 Water Energy. A bad custom card would be this kiwi birb on an innertube, Grass type because green innertube, around 500 HP, and a move that does like 300 for 1 Water and 1 Grass.

But I've found it hard to explain that, usually getting some drooling retard response of "but durr the Pokemon games is still about the Pokemon and duh pipple so it's fine??".

Yeah the heavy dip Pokemon has had into sci-fi has been a big burr for me too. It doesn't feel like there's anything left to explore and what you do interact with is just incredibly sterile. Ultra Beasts and dimension hopping taking over the focus in the Alola games to the complete detriment of any history the region might have had or the lore around its completely forgettable legendaries was emblematic for me of the direction Pokemon was heading.

I blame part of this on GF/Masuda's obsession with Kanto. Of the original regions it has the least nature-tech harmony and its only real lore is related to a manmade homunculi.
Shit, I just want towns back. Towns with themes and shit. Towns where I can just run back to, instead of Pokemon centers in a field. It made sense for Legends Arceus, but it sucked in SV.
They got rid of towns in SV?

All of Gen 7 was just a haphazard mess. It was half of what Z was supposed to be and half of what Alola was originally aspired to be, it ended up being neither. This is why I can buy the Kalos "Fairies are aliens" theory since this is pretty much what UBs and their entire plotline is. Wouldn't be surprised if this was cut from XY and became a recycled plot twist for SM when the devs figured out they didn't have enough original lore and story for SM to make it stick.

I liked the Orre duology, I think it handled the same themes as Red/Blue(criminal empire using technology to enslave Pokemon, make them stronger and take over the world) but did them better. Since it wasn't done by Gamefreak, nobody will ever remember those games however.

Towns are still in the game but they're basically setting pieces now, you can't even go into a vast majority of the buildings (with the scant few being major hubs like Naranja/Uva Academy, Gym-related structures, the labs in Area Zero, etc.) and areas like Pokémon Centers and Poké Marts are designed to be like open-air gas stations.

On a whim, decided to look at the TCRF Terraleak section to see if there is anything new.
There is a few interesting discoveries regarding FRLG(since this is what I am playing right now) I found. The biggest one seems to be that many of the sprites, both overworld and front/back seemed to be completely different in the early development, later re-drawn to look like they did in the final game. Most of these changes are minor, the biggest seems to be that Red had a completely different design, that includes a single sprite with him lacking the iconic cap on his head

Blue similarly looked more like his RBG counterpart.
I don't see anything on Leaf, so she must have been a late addition.

All that text at the top reads "jibun dekimeru", which I think means something like "pick own name", then there's "Green", "Shigeru", "Tsunekazu"(?), and "Satoru". Text at bottom reads "kimi no namae wa?", or "your name is?". Text being in all kana is really helpful.
Yes, this is the intro screen where you select your name, gender and rival's name. Oak looked completely different too, I don't want to fill the thread with something you can easily check yourself but it's all there

There is also a secret event nobody knows about. You have to play as a girl to trigger it.
Warning! It won't work If you don't have Boltund at your first team slot and five Alcremie.
First, you do camping at the wild area. You have to eat 88 currys in a row and leave the menu between each time.
If a battle occurs inbetween, you have to restart.
When you're done, you go to the steakhouse in circhester where you can find Dear Feeder looking for fat girls to caress.
When he spots you waddling through the door, he'll chase you with huge affection.
You can battle and catch him now. However, If you catch him while having moomoo cheese in your inventory, he'll get an autistic meltdown about cheese and it'll crash and corrupt the game. Your save file gets deleted and every time you try to start a new game you will see a shattered image of Elon Musk autistically staring at you.

So yeah it can turn your 60 bucks triple A game into an useless brick but it's worth it.
I highly recommend trying this at home, as dear feeder is very powerful and can use the incredible secret technique permaban, which can be unlocked at the fairy gym, but that's a story for another day.

You jest, but there was a serious issue at launch which did turn your entire Switch into a brick, also due to a save bug. I am not sure if this was ever fixed(I remember reading that it can't ever be fixed due to an oversight with the console hardware itself, literally every other studio works around it aside from Gamefreak who is too incompetent), but I do remember reddit/twitter being in complete damage control mode over it, at the same time people made fun of the N64 tree, the awful animations and...everything else.

Hidden Nool event is at least cool.

I did some research on that and apparently that it was either bunk (due said bricking being "caused" by SWSH turning the Switch's NAND as VRAM, something that the games can't do without tampering with the OS) or the person who reported it installed, incorrectly or otherwise, homebrew onto their Switch.

There was also the issue of digital copies of the game bricking folks' SD cards due to the Switch not handing exFAT-formatted cards well and that was reported by folks running the Switch's original OS.

That's what I remember too. However, I also heard that there is a similar save/bricking issue with SV that hasn't been fixed since, which is all the more believable with how broken that game is. Could be that the issue is legit but effects those who homebrew more than the normal customer, either way it's embarrassing that Gamefreak let something like this happen in the first place.

The biggest crime of Battle Revolution was killing any chance of a new Orre game. I unironically believe GF intentionally bungled it so it could just handwave the poor reception and say that people weren't interested in a follow-up on the Wii.
