Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

So, remember how I talked about the personality mismatch bug in FRR? Well, I think I finally found a use for it

Yeah, I think it's gamer time. I already confirmed it works in Emerald, GC games and their respective romhacks I already covered. It doesn't work in FRLG and FRR, unfortunately as effected Pokemon still have their abilities, and I don't know if this will work in Gens 4 and 5. Either way, this is still incredible news and I am looking forward to breaking apart Gen 3 at the very least. Remember, I can take this thing to Battle Frontier in Emerald or Revelations Emerald if I want to, not to mention other Emerald romhacks, that's not mentioning getting an easy Mt Battle 100 battle ribbon in any GC game or romhack.

That aside, I finally got to the point where I am capturing multiple Legendaries, as was my endgame with this hack from the start. So far, only Regice, but I am obviously going to hunt all the Legendaries at one point, even if that time only comes after I complete the game 100% otherwise. Before that happens, I took care of everything I needed on the mainland and am now ready to sail to Cinnabar, go thru the Pokemon Mansion, revive fossils, Beat Blaine and go to Sevii Islands ect. I'm just going to wait for my DS Lite to recharge. Might go hunting for Articuno/Suicune first since I plan on sailing to Cinnabar from Seafoam Islands, and before that I will have to earn enough money to buy the coins needed to redeem a Dratini, as unfortunately it is NOT present in the Safari Zone in this romhack(don't worry, there is so many rare or otherwise unobtainable Safari Ball Pokemon here you won't notice).

Legends Arceus had a mishmash of non-Gen 4 starters to differentiate it from BDSP, and Z-A is following that decision. They probably went with the least popular for each type.
popplio or sobble would have been better fits as "unpopular" water starters imo since from what I've seen they're the least popular of their respective trios, while totodile has more or less the same popularity as cyndaquil

wow holy shit it took them what, 5 years to make a nu pokemon stadium game like everyone told them to after dexit?
glad they did but if I was leading tpc I would monetize the customization options out the ass for it. nothing gameplay related but trainer outfits could make a killing if done right as well as music.
I'm not expecting great things too much from ZA but it being in one city yakuza style peaked my interest, them basically making combat xenoblade was also funny to me, but as a huge xenoblade guy, its peaked my interest. I loved arceus but I'll even admit it was a solid 7.5 out of 10, sounds like some shit that would be fun especally if the switch 2 has a major battery boost when playing switch 1 games.
Torchic, Chikorita (with a grass/fairy Meganium), and Piplup would have been better.
I just have the feeling that these new starters wanted to all have new mega like the hissuian forms in Arceus and it limits your options, gen 1 and 3 got ones back in ORAS and Gen 4 already got its nostalgia boost so they were a no go. any starter post gen 6 getting a mega might feel weird since no Pokémon after B/W had a mega since the mechanic was abandoned so that only leaves Gen 2 and gen 5. though saying that the typhlosion rape allegations was what got him out of this game is the funnier response

Between LA and now LZA, it seems like GF is choosing Pokémon that have a mix of both unpopularity among the broader public and unpopularity as a competitive pick.
Primarina is already decently viable in competitive battles, so Popplio would be out.

Also, if the LZA starters are getting mega evolutions (we know that megas are coming back anyway, so it would be kinda weird for the starters not to showcase it), then Torchic would be out since Blaziken already has a mega.

Sobble seems like a good pick for the criteria.
Piplup could be, too, but I honestly thought that Piplup was too popular to make the cut. Then again, I would've said the same thing about Cyndaquil and Totodile.

I brought this up in the post above, but Piplup I think was out of the running since sinnoh was the last cycle
Sobble is also a cool choice, but as a mechanic megas have always been "member berries" in that they remix pokemon that people have nostalgia for and I don't think we are getting any beyond Gen 6 due to that.
Hopefully this game means, even if megas aren't as common as they were in the 3ds era, they still pepper them in as appropriate they still will introduce them occasionally like how Arceus sorta revived cross gen evos and that carried onto gen 9

This would be the perfect opportunity to round out Megas for the even Gen (+5) starters.

Honestly, the Typhlosion shit was overblown: partially spurred by the era we live in now wherein discourse on media is entirely dictated by the writer’s barely disguised fetish meeting helicopter-parenting-by-proxy, neither of which are capable of exercising moderation. It was an element that was clearly rejected, only seeing the light of day because corporate digital hygiene is laughable. It warranted no greater reaction than a flat “huh, that’s weird.”

there was alot of shit in the leaks, the sinnoh cosmology map comes to mind, the typhloson shit was a perfect storm, "not like us" hitting at the time, Sinnoh lore in general already hinting at weird shit, there was a potential culture war thing that got Null to bring it up on stream at the time. shit was more funny than a serious thing to get game freak to take back. on the bright side, pretty sure it helped burry the employee info contained in that thing. the skyla design shit was also fucking kino:

Game Freak paid this man to goon on the job and I have to respect multitasking your job like that.

Good point.

Stopping Lyssandre was a mistake
Nigga should have offered that suit at a reasonable price if he didn't want his shit stomped in.
>Totodile
>least popular
The only other water starter I would have suggested is Squirtle or Piplup. Blastoise already has a mega and it's not Zard so it's not allowed another mega, and all things considered Empoleon only needs a special Dragon Dance to really break through as it already has one of the best defensive typings in the series.

I too await Mega Zard Z.

You know what would be the best option? Simply including all the Pokemon and letting you choose your own damn starter? If you have one of each in your given current gen game/Bank or HOME you can send them up the current generation from the previous one, the initial starter choice is largely up to personal preference as you can pick anything you want. This is why I don't feel strongly about the starters either way, if a push came to a shove I would be fine with Totodile simply because it is a Gyarados-lite, very useful in the early game. I would probably import other Pokemon, including other starters, to truly get the team composition I would want at the start, altho with the Pokemon being cherry picked these days I would have to check which ones are available in this particular entry, therefore spoiling the game and what Pokemon it has to offer later on in the story. Not to mention that now your movesets from the previous gens are wiped and you can't even get some fun combinations that were only available in the earlier gens, therefore having unique Pokemon the game wouldn't normally allow for and rewarding those with previous entries.

Modern Pokemon is really gay. Say what you want about Gen 6 and 7, but if you didn't want to deal with what the game gave you there was still the option of simply transfering your old mon, bonus for VC Gameboy releases making Gen 1 and 2 HA Pokemon laughably easy to get.

I'm trying to finish fire red because I never finished it when I was younger does anyone have any useful tips for it? Personally I don't like having certain evolutions locked behind trading because I don't have anyone to trade with lmao, is there anyway to circumvent that or is it just the only way.

Don't buy the Magikarp before Mt. Moon as it will break the game for you. Unless you WANT to steamroll everything.

In which case buy the Magikarp.

For an actual tip, there are next to no held items the entire game, but you will find little grass patches that look different that have berries which can be useful. The trashcans have some on the S.S. Anne too if I remember right.

Don't count on using any evolutions that weren't in the original game unless you hack the game on an emulator. For some baffling reason, they made it impossible (in the main story) to get anything that was introduced outside of generation 1, so don't get an Onix expecting a Steelix or a Zubat in hopes of a Crobat.

The guards at the Saffron gate want Tea, not the generic fresh water you can get at the Celadon store.
I got stuck there as a kid, because it was a weird change.

Sadly not. At least in the main game, it just means you cant get Alakazam, Machamp, Golem or Gengar, but the game is beatable without them

Hell, Kadabra still has decent firepower for a middle evo
