Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

I also played Platinum when I was a kid, through I think I stopped around the time I got to the last gym. If I can find a good emulator for mobile, gonna try it.

You know, seeing TerminalMontage getting a tallented VA to voice Volo in a parody video makes me wish even more Pokemon had Voice Acting.

In one hand, it could do the Fallout 1-2 line and only important NPCs get voice, with the protagonist remaining silent.

In other hand, Im pretty sure Game Freak can somehow fuck this idea

If you battle every NPC trainer, you'll actually be able to fill up the national dex
You have the wrong dex. Platinum only lets you fill up its regional dex through battling trainers. That's only about 210ish out of 400+ monsters.

Additionally, most people completing the pokedex want the dex entries, not just the picture of a mon in its dex. You can't get those entries unless you catch stuff yourself, so this is a bad idea all around. Especially since you can't access any National Dex content without having the entire regional dex fully seen, which is a complete pain in the ass if you're avoiding any trainers at any point whatsoever.

Platinum's a pretty decent game, though. If you ever do get into competitive autism, I'd highly recommend its Battle Frontier and post-game in general.

Completed Mariomon today. I think it's been over a year since I last completed any Pokémon game or romhack. Definitely one my favourites but it had a big team behind it, so not surprising. I think I'm going to complete the dex because I enjoy the game enough.
Seen this posted in the dead alpha rad thread so here you go.

About how there's like a third of the mon that are traced iirc

I played hours of Unbound yesterday and barely moved the plot forward.

This game is so fucking fun, there are lots of place to explore and mini missions to do, there was one that I had to catch all pokemon in the dexnav in the area, after that I got an upgrade that showed me all held items that it is possible to get in that area.

This exploration and the maps not being shit like base games give such a life to the region, if only the main story wasn't as bad as it is... The map iad excelent and there is many layers.

There was this cave that had the ice slide puzzle with a TM that wasn't possible to get. But then after unlock rock climb, I could go into another cave in the same area and push a rock that would allow me to go back to the othet cavr and get the item. (And there was also a dynamax cave mission and the Regigigas.

And I explore so much and with the help of level scaling and level cap, I get to train 10-15 pokémon at the same time, always having more options to use than just main 6.

So, for a total casual who dont care about itens, iv, competitite stuff and just want to complete the pokedex, which game you guys reccomend? hgss? platinum? bw?
Emerald, GC releases(Colosseum, Gale of Darkness) and Platinum are my favorites. FRLG and HGSS if you want nostalgia. Gen 7 games are a guilty pleasure of mine, but I can understand if people hate them for their long cutscenes.

So, any expectatives for Z-A?

It will run worse than Scarlet and Violet, and will STILL sell like hotcakes. Even if it's Battlefield 2042-levels of horrible on launch, or even bricks people's Nintendo Switch consoles in mass, and even bricks people's computers that try to emulate the game, as an unintended DRM system, the PokéStans will STILL defend the game.

Let's be reasonable.
At that point, I think they'd finally be upset.

I was talking with the other half today as we both managed to secure Switch 2s, and I have been looking into rumours, etc. I have had this odd suspicion that Nintendo may be making moves, prepping Pokémon to enter its late cash cow cycle. You can tell Nintendo does not have Game Freak in high regard, as they do with producers like Sakurai.

I think Z-A will be delayed as it is not vibing with the audience. On top of that, it is suspected that Nintendo's major winter release is Animal Crossing. This signals a shift in direction as Nintendo is testing different IPs after the last 2 winter releases of mainline Pokémon games. SV and SwSh may have sold well, but they were embarrassing, which Nintendo does not like.

Z-A looks rough, honestly. It looks empty and rushed, and you can tell it was a different idea than intended because of how rushed it looks. You can tell Nintendo has no faith in the game either, a nd with one of the worst Pokémon day presentations to date. GF needs to restructure, take a break, rehire, and go back to the drawing board.

I have been on and off replaying Soulsilver and Jesus. Back in the day I cited gen 2 as many others as my favorite, but now I cannot help myself but see the flaws in it.
The level curve, the limited pokemon pool. I am not that motivated to play it due to having no level appropriate spots for grinding. Probably never noticed when I was a child, since I utilized the only-level-your-starter-strat a lot.

I just catched Lugia. Made a backup save point because I was resetting for the shiny.

Kanto probably will not feel any better, since I remember Kanto feeling very short and not very challenging.

Nintendo does not control when TPC releases games and despite being an incredibly embarrassing release PSV sold better than ever. So yeah, no.

Nintendo also actively wants Switch 1 games to continue coming out and, well, there it is.

Lack of high-level areas is a problem in every single generation, at least 1-7 that I played. This might not be that obvious in the single player playthru, unless you're maybe playing GSC/HGSS, but if you're trying to level up Pokemon for competitive, especially in Gen 2/3 for Battle Tower/Frontier 100 ladder? Boy, does it take a while. Thank goodness for NeXt Gen romhack making things easy by making the first 60 fights of the 100 in Mt. Battle not just a breeze but a wealth of XP and EVs, effectively forgoing grinding a little bit. The last 40 battles make up for it by being the toughest this gen has to offer, however. In RSE and ORAS you can also do the old Blissey Secret Base trick, but other than that you're out of luck if you just want to level up efficiently. I consider it a failure in game design if I have to fight Elite 4 over and over again for both XP and money and have no better options.

If you know how to abuse the VS seeker in the games that have it, leveling really isn't that bad. There's quite a few high exp spots in gens 4 and 5, and if Unova didn't have its weird exp curve thing then hunting Audino is also pretty efficient. Johto is absolutely abysmal though, I have no idea how the hell that got through. Why the fuck is the highest leveled pokemon in victory road 20 levels lower than the E4??

Tbh I consider using a hack to up the level of wild pokemon by at least 50% practically mandatory for repeat playthroughs, and it's the only region I don't consider hacking in rare candies for nuzlockes to be even remotely controversial. Fuck having half your team die to a gym leader and needing to spend 3 hours grinding pokemon half your level for replacements.
