Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

At least it isn’t as cancerous as MTG, as much of a clusterfuck as YGO, or as dead as the Digimon TCG or Lorcana are. I will admit to buying a few of YGO’s Quarter-Century Stampede tuck boxes and enjoying it more than opening the scant few Prismatic Evolutions packs I managed to find.
Whatever you've spent this most money on, is the worst.

I wanted to claim the Pokemon Day phone case in Violet so I loaded the game up despite my borked joycon that has suddenly started going crazy on its own. I hadn't played in awhile and dayum is that game jank. I mean I liked it a lot despite the problems. But the graphical glitches are more glaring if you haven't played in awhile and gotten used to them. The models are also pretty ugly compared to older games. I really like the art in Cafe Remix. Those pokemon designs are really well done. I think Pokemon just looks better in 2D. I'd love a 2D traditional Pokemon game with the Cafe Remix art style.

Im a very casual fan, and I was just gifted a 3DS which I modded and now I'm playing Omega Ruby for the first time. I played up until sinnoh, then stopped. My first video game ever was Sapphire, and I remember panicking and wasting my master ball on an Absol because I thought it was a legendary pokemon after seeing the Jirachi Wishmaker movie. Any tips for someone who's getting back into it? Or silly stories from when you were a dumb kid
Omega Ruby has this little thing with the touchscreen, where you can repeatedly encounter the pokemon you select, and it's a good way to get a shiny. Just select, and then walk to the grass that pops up. Bring repels so you don't get cucked.

Every 10th pokemon you find with this method will be +10 levels higher, though, so it's also good for training.

If you have any Pokémon in old games that you want to keep with you going into future generations (instead of them being stuck in their old game), you'll need:
  • A DS or DS Lite (with a working GBA slot)
    • (gen 3 to gen 4)
  • Another DS of any version, and be able to use both at once
    • (gen 4 to gen 5)
  • A 3DS with Pokémon Transporter already downloaded onto it—or, you can download it with a modded 3DS
    • (gen 5 to gen 6)
  • A 3DS with Pokémon Bank already downloaded onto it—again, you can download it with a modded 3DS
    • (gen 6 to gen 7)
    • (also gen 6 or 7 to gen 8 and 9 by transferring to Pokémon Home)
  • A Switch or a mobile device with Pokémon Home downloaded onto it, so that you can set up a Home account with which to receive your old Pokémon
You might not think much about it now, but those old Pokémon might have sentimental value in the future. And eventually, they'll be stuck in their old game forever. Better to do it while you can than to miss out.
The issue (and the reason to do this sooner than later) is that Pokémon Bank will eventually shut down (at some still-unspecified point in the future, thanks Nintendo), which will break the link from gen 8 and 9 to anything that came before it.

Ask us if you have any specific questions for how anything works. Some features in the games, like the DexNav mentioned earlier...
Omega Ruby has this little thing with the touchscreen, where you can repeatedly encounter the pokemon you select
... are really poorly explained on places like Bulbapedia.

I still reckon we have a decade or two. They’ll do it when you can no longer get any of the okd games and enough time has past that the new Gen never even played or knows what Gen 7 is.

Wii Servers to download and run stuff after almost 20 years.

Game Freak won’t cut it while they know a lot of the audience knows what Gen 3-7 are.

There's no need to rush if you're willing to hack your consoles. You can hack both your 3DS and Switch to install PKSM and transfer Pokemon, or even use PkHeX to move them between games (it simulates the transfer process). It's not endorsed by Nintendo as you can imagine, and it has some issues (it scrambled my Pokemon's PID and I had to fix it manually), but it lets you move large batches of Pokemon without needing an internet connection and it's free.

This looks like shit

is "minecraft-esque" Pokemon really what the kids are into these days?

This also looks like an imitation of ORAS, but somehow the creator made it look even worse.
Bingo, this is ORAS but trooncore(I am just going to assume it's made by trannies, because why wouldn't I?)
The idea is Octopath Traveler Pokémon, but playable. Lots of Pokéfans wan that look, especially those who say that Pokémon should have stayed 2D.
I dunno, BW look much better than this. The 3D effect of the environment just makes it look like a diorama or a pop-out book more than anything, which I don't like.

Agreed. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but it's like the world isn't a complete eyesore in BW. Maybe the smaller screen of the DS helped so everything looked normal? or maybe the 3d models of the outside world in BW were created/rendered better?
The background was very basic, gradient or solid coloring. It was simple but effective, here we have too much detail in a retro-minimalist style that gives you an uncanny valley effect. Just go for 3D models at this point.

I found no evidence in all of hi social media that he is a troon. The most is his pronouns in GameJolt being 'he/him'. While he may be a woman in manface, those pronouns just have me feel that he is not a troon.
There i some trans hilling, though:

The 'pop-out diorama' look is actually part of the Octopath Traveler look and part of the appeal to like Octopath Traveler.

Let's see. It annoys me that there's a massive mismatch in resolution. The tufts of grass and the Pokemon are very low-res compared to the trees and the ground. If the Pokemon sprites were higher res they wouldn't look so out of place (but that would imply having the dev make his own assets instead of copy pasting the official sprites). This mismatch happens in BW as well, but the backgrounds there are much simpler so it's not nearly as noticeable.

The color contrast is also a pretty big eyesore, you've got very saturated greens on the ground and the Treecko sprite while the shadows underneath the trees are almost black. And the UI screams "graphic design is my passion", the gen 4 HP bar combined with the bright red 3DS style menu is something to behold.

Agreed, but the difference here is that Octopath Traveler actually looks good.

I noticed tha the game is being updated tonnes of times a day.
The current version is 2.3.4, and still more updates are coming.
EDIT: ...now 2.3.6.

Oh fucking Hell…

It appears that Black Bolt and White Flare will be experiencing shortages when they release in July.
Unfortunately, we've received word that Black Bolt and White Flare allocations will be much less than Prismatic Evolutions. Most stores will receive no product. This is according to one of TPCi's biggest U.S. distributors.

But there's also good news on the horizon that may explain why this is the case!

Following their initial print runs, TPCi has been busy reprinting past items like Surging Sparks booster boxes and Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Boxes. They have already started to arrive at stores in the United States. The new supply isn't as large as the original print runs, but it's still a sizeable amount. Prices on the secondary market are already dropping.

As usual, this new supply will trickle down through store supply chains over the coming months. It will depend on distribution chains how often the new supply will be sent to stores.

This latest information lines up with news in March that more Prismatic Evolutions and 151 products would be arriving at Gamestop this month.

As I've pointed out before, it usually takes TPCi around six months to respond to demand. Surging Sparks released in November and here we are six months later with additional product!

The Pokemon TCG has seen unprecedented demand since the release of Pokemon TCG Pocket in the fall. Currently, TPCi is printing future sets at maximum capacity.

It's likely TPCi will eventually catch up with demand for Black Bolt and White Flare as well. It's a special set with multiple release dates, so TPCi can release additional product over a longer period of time.

If you're a Pokemon TCG collector, it's always best to be patient for new product. Never give in to FOMO. Never pay scalpers for product. Pay attention to the short-term of course, but remember collecting is a long-term goal!
I really don’t like how the writer here says that the availability of these restocks will “depend on distribution chains how often the new supply will be sent to stores” as if it implies that they’re not part of the problem.
Whatever you've spent this most money on, is the worst.
Seeing as how I’m most looking to play then Lorcana would be the worst, meta decks in that game can reach triple-digit prices.

Ironically enough, Pokémon would be the best due to most meta decks only reaching $60-$90 price wise.

Got to play Unbound a little more after 3 weeks of not touching the game. The main story was bad as usual but I believe I finish it.

I got to the final gym and it looks like the gym gimmick is to devolve after beating an opponent. Never experienced this gimmick.

Also see this magikarp? This was a mini quests that I had to catch 30 magikarps and put in a box, after I did this he took all my magikarp and gave me a shiny one.

Unbound is such a good game that is fucked by the bad story. I really enjoy all the non story elements of the game, all side quests and things not related to the plot are nice.

Edit: the gym gimmick was quite cool, every time you defeated a pokémon he would lose his evolution moves and would gain another life bar, so a 3 stage evolution must be beaten 3 times. It was the best gimmick of the game so far but thank god it was an insect gym. Also my Pyroar was the Goat.

Now lets see the elite 4.
