Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

$30 bucks for the DLC as opposed to $60 for what would have been Pokémon Armor/Criwn isn’t a bad deal. And letting people add the 200+ Pokémon without getting the DLC is nice too.
I’m super intrigued by the Galarian Legendary Bird Trio.

To be fair, the dex upgrades itself are free. So you should be able to trade or transfer all of those 200 Pokémon in without spending another cent slowly or pretty quickly if you pay for home.

It also seems like they’re adding a decent amount of content, with two new stories, at least a few new Galarian forms, and some new Pokémon as well. Both Klara and Avery look to be shitlords of the highest order, which is good for the “hate the rivals” crowd.

Galarian Zapmolcuno look interesting, as does the new Regis. The other Legendaries are very iffy for me, though. Urushi doesn’t seem that Legendary (I thought their Gigantamax forms were the Doggos going furry for a while). The sheep looks... interesting? I’m a little disappointed they went with Celebi’s typing.

Giantamax Kanto and Galarian starters, the latter of which I think they should make a base game rule. Gen 7 starters got Z moves, and Gen 6 starters should have gotten megas.

Now, with all that aside...

FUCK YEAH MYSTERY DUNGEON DX

NO VERSIONS, BEAUTIFUL STYLE, MEGAS RETURN

DROP A DEMO ON THE FUCKING DAY OF ANNOUNCEMENT JUST TO SHOW OFF

HYYYYYPE

Finally the first smart thing game freak has done since this shit show started
How the hell did GF not leave this open as a possiblity for a long time in interviews, would of caused alot less shit
Though this just goes to show that I think the dex cut was a result of them rushing the game and not as much due to "Stylistically a decision moving foward" like game freak claimed it was
I stand corrected, then. I knew about the XY patches because of the save bug at release. How in the hell haven't they patched the raid issues and broken moves for this game yet? I hope that's in the new patch that dropped today.
they tend to mainly focus on bugs if they are game braking, as in when they crash the console itself, so they might be working on it but they might just legit missed them during play testing
after all, they are doing DLC so we can't really base off what they used to do for this
They're doing them right now I assume. There's server is being fixed up right now, tried to log in with it, but can't get in so they're doing it, can't join online atm in the games.
I just wonder how much of it is game freaks usual programming and how much is nintendo's shitty netcode. or from both just interacting

Pros:
- Glad they're making it so you don't need the expansion pass to get the returning/new pokes.
- Content outlined basically for 3/4 of the year is a good way of getting people invested in your game instead of just having the one and planning from there
- New Regi/Bird trio forms look nice. I especially love the new Zapdos, especially if it's going to be running like a road runner or something.
- More trainer customization is nice, and it def seems they want to make that a key point going forward.

Cons:
-$29.99 for content that honestly should have just been in the game already is a tough sell
- If they're saying it's going to be bigger then the Wild Area that is just going to magnify lag, frame rate dips, texture quality, and just be a pain in the ass for anyone going through those zones.
-Locking evolution lines (Galarian Slowpoke) to items in new areas is just stupid when the game offers new methods for pokes like Leafeon/Glaceon through stones.
-No mention of patching to fix the current meta state
- The fact Landorus is coming back basically means the new competitive meta will be fucked if it gets it's Therion form.
- When the new Mystery Dungeon looks better then your advertised expansion that's not a good look LMAOOO.

$90 for a still incomplete dex.
Oh and you can't even decide which version of the DLC you get, isn't it fun being locked into content from a choice you made months prior?
Eat up 💩

Too be honest, an expansion pass is better than a separate Ultra Sword and Shield version to piss of the current owners.

I was also expecting dlc where you can buy select groups or single pokemon separately, like you see on games on Steam where the total dlc cost more than the game itself.

Good outline. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this. So many of the game features were a swing and a miss for me. The wild areas were such a good idea, but ended up not being that interesting in implementation due to a lot of issues. The new pokemon look cool, but are they going to have the same limp animations? New raids look great, but will they actually work in multiplayer like they're balanced for? Adding more of features that showcased wasted potential without fixing some of the issues is a hard sell. Galar is small and needs more content.

I'm just personally salty because at least some of this stuff should have been in the main game on release. If they had pushed the release schedule back a few months, we would have had a much better product. They would have also missed holiday sales. I didn't mind purchasing the BOTW expansion pass. The base game was solid. It didn't look or feel like it had been rushed or things had been cut out due to time. The pass added a lot of content to a game that was already a big package on launch. It was polished and finished, something that SwSh very much aren't. This seems like GF rushed this game to market when it wasn't ready and took some features out only to sell them back to us as an expansion.

Letting you trade back to people who don't have the expansion is nice. That was always a bit frustrating with the third version pokemon not being available at all in what are essentially the same games from a year before. Having an expansion without making players slog through an entire new game is nice, too. Making us go through the same baby tutorial island on USUM was pretty bad.

The game is still $60, you don’t have to buy the DLC to get access to the added 200+ Pokémon.
Version Exclusives have always been a thing since the beginning.
The hell are you smoking?

They absolutely should have held off, but the issue is these games are not made for me or you, or any customer really, they're made for the investment holders, the quality of the game doesn't matter a whole lot, as long as it kicks off the new characters and settings so that they can properly start pumping out merchandise and other adaptions for cash they're happy. They know they can do -literally anything- and the game will sell millions, it's like using your fuck you money to make more money.

My theory is game freak is going to update them as it goes on
base game: the 435
Expansion Pass: the 200+
Gen 4 remakes: the other 200+ to be compatible
makes sense since with the 200+ from the first EP we would already be on the way to around 3/4ths of the dex being in the game

Fair enough, I take that back, though it still doesn't change the fact they should have all been in from the get go, let alone half a year later.

Difference being you were able to make an informed decision on which exclusives you wanted prior to buying, but now you're locked into DLC that wasn't revealed for over a month after release. They should have allowed you to buy one of either version, regardless of which version you currently own.

Gee I wonder!

Charizard getting it's own unique typing confirmed. Regicharizard, Mewcharizard, Charizardquatro, and Therian Form Charizardus incoming.

Kidding aside this is exactly what I wanted. DLC, not a repackaged full price game, no Sinnoh remake (get fucked, Gen three was last Gen that needed one), new content free to people that just wanna play competitive. New areas are all open world.

Blastoise and Venusaur, as well as the Galarian starters getting Gigantomax forms mean nothing to me (though I do like Inteleon's UT sniper tower) unless they give you candies that let Pokemon Gigantomax without having to catch a new one. I never liked the Regi-s, so Regizap(?) and Regidragon mean nothing, am curious about the bird trio.

So far, the only real difference is who your rival in the new area is. You still get both areas for both games and everything.

Well, that's not true, that fighting legendary looks like it's got a version exclusive evolutions on it too. But that's pretty much it.

Not referring to the quote here, but to me it seems like the expansion passes are for both areas, so, effectively they're about 15 dollars each for each game. Color me optimistic though, since that sounds a bit more reasonable, but I do hope that this is the sign of them adding more stuff

They didn’t really specify the evolution, but that’s a fair point.

And yeah, it’s essentially $15 apiece.

TFW if they make a second pass it will go to a full 60 bucks, making this just a third version with extra steps

Still, not as much of a scam as ULTRA CHANGES
