Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

Man Wailord has never been remotely to scale in battles.
Behold.

That second one is still probably..too small

Sceptile is 1.7 Meters tall

Wailord is supposed to be 14.5 so Wailord should be about 7 times the height of a Sceptile (unless they are measuring from mouth to tail..which WTF would that be)

Edit : That..seems to be exactly what they do. Add another thing to the list of "Fucking dumb shit the Poke-dex has done"

I mean, if it was the right size following you, it either couldn’t follow you on land basically at all, would be impossible to see around, and / or be clipping through everything. The battle thing is a heck of a lot more solid - you could argue that as a matter of arranging the Pokémon in a way that allows big boys - but it's still not a matter of just plugging it in.

The big limiting factor is twofold:

One, the trainer behind the pokemon is set at a fixed distance. The Pokemon have to be made to fit within a certain radius to work. This radius is why some Dynamax pokemon are larger than their Gigantamax counterparts - they're tall, thin Pokemon. Wailord is much longer than he is tall, so his size is constrained rather tightly.

You could have wailord occupy the Gigantamax spot by default, maybe? It wouldn't be perfect, but it'd be one option.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the way the Gamecube games animate their attacks and stuff is fundamentally different.

No, seriously. Watch.

Every single move is split up into two parts:

1: Attacking pokemon does the attack animation.
2: The camera cuts to the defender.
3: Defending Pokemon does the hit animation.

There's no continuity between the shots. This allows them to avoid any issues with pokemon size, but also means that even some simple animations are flat-out impossible. It's also part of why the animation is slower - they can't show both the attack and the effect at the same time.

I actually just heard a great theory regarding a slightly earlier discussion - why Palkia is Water-type. To be clear, I'm building off the earlier theory that they represent the three states of matter - Solid Steel, Gaseous Ghost, and Liquid Water.

So, Dialga is Steel-type, and it's easy to make a connection between metals and timepieces. Giratina is ghost type, and it's easy to make connections between Giratina's gaseous theme, design, etc. But why is it that Palkia - a creature designed to represent space - associated with Water?

There's one theory that it comes from the tale of Archimedes - the Eureka moment. To learn the volume of a complex shape like a crown, Archimedes found that if you submerged the object in water, you could measure the displaced water to determine the volume. In other words, if Dialga's steel type is from tools for measuring time, Palkia's water type is from the first tool for measuring volume and space.

Graphics still ain't Snap Level, but they have noticeably improved. More little rocks and dirt and logs on the ground, more biomes relying on shit actually being there. Pokemon hanging in trees, pokemon attacking you in the water...

Also, something I noted.

The legendary pokemon included in the roster from @Hyrip123876 are:
Mewtwo
Mew
Celebi
Jirachi
The Muskedeers
The Tao Trio
The Cosmog Line
Magearna,
Necrozma,
Marshadow
and Zeraora.

There's two notable omissions there. You could argue that the lack of Gen 6 is due to the low number of gen 6 legendaries in general...

But why is there no Gen 4?
Because SINNOH REMAKE

THE NIGHTMARE IS HAPPENING

Can you feel it?

Can you feel them remaking not-Platinum?

Can you feel them getting the engine flaws right, and nothing else?
I genuinely wouldn't put it past them to not bring back Sinnoh's fucking atrocious load of HMs with the excuse of "authenticity." After all, that was the reason ORAS didn't have trainer customization.

I got 2 shiny g-slowpokes just so I can have shiny slowbro and -king. The line has become a favorite of mine in recent years. Just wanted to say that shiny G-slowbro is kinda meh.

So in terms of legends not yet available, there's: the Birds, confirmed to be Galarian; the Beasts and the Birds from gen 2 who will likely come in Tundra because of their associations with the Birds; Regis, who are having their "family" extended after over a decade in Tundra; Deoxys, Weather Trio and Latis; all the gen 4 legendaries (and there are plenty); the gen 6 legendaries; and the tapus (plus the UBs if you count them).

Overall I think we're getting all the remaking legends in crown tundra anyway but there's at least reasoning for a few

That and because rapid strike's signature move is a 3-hit attack that always or has a high crit ratio.
Surging strikes hits 3 times for 25 each and always crits.

Wicked blow hits for 80 once and always crits.

Rapid strike also gets aqua jet and single strike gets sucker punch.

The gulf between the 2 is actually a lot closer then most would think.

Why is this thing considered a legendary again? That's a lower BST than both pseudos and ultra beasts.

Nagandel actually had a BST of 540, so I guess it's not to unusual for a legendary. Besides, BST is honestly a terrible way to determine a Pokemon's strength outside of flavor stuff (Kyurem Black was really underpowerd for a cover legendary until it was buffed this generation, despite being one of the handful of Pokemon to have a 700+ BST outside of some in-battle transformation).
