Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

The lockstin guy on youtube presented a pretty decent case for it being meiji
A Pokemon period piece game could be pretty fun if they do it right. Instead of fighting Gym Leaders you are fighting daimyo to get them to accept the Emperors authority and the villain is a Shogunate supporter who wants to use Dialga or Palkia to return the Shogun to power, ala Hijikata from Golden Kamuy. Pretty much Pokemon Conquest but the Meiji era instead of the Waring States era and an actual Pokemon game instead of Nobunagas Ambition reskinned with Pokemon

I got to admit the anti fans are even more obnoxious than the Pokemon fanboys. I just saw a degenerate furry having a multi tweet meltdown over how much they hate the series.

Also Yo Kai Watch fans in particular have such a massive stick up their asses over Pokemon and some seriously believe their game didn’t succeed in the West because the Pokemon fanbase hated it or something.
Yokai Watch was one of the most Japanese series I've ever seen in my life. If you weren't a fan of Japanese cryptids, no way in hell were you going to like it. It didn't translate well into English, so it turned a lot of people not in the periphery demographic off. That's why it didn't do well.

I would get back into Pokemon for a game like this. Way better idea than Pokemon Conquest.

To catch Pokémon in the Pokémon Legends: Arceus game, you can observe them to learn their behavior, then carefully sneak up, aim your Poké Ball™, and let fly!

You can also have your ally Pokémon battle wild Pokémon that you hope to catch. Just throw the Poké Ball holding your ally Pokémon near a wild Pokémon, and you’ll seamlessly enter battle and command your Pokémon by choosing from moves it knows.
Seamless battle sounds pretty cool. Seems like they’re exploring two different options with this.

I think an unmentioned aspect of this is that each of the four “main” games that are on Switch will be distinctly different. Let’s Go, SwSh, BDSP and Legends all look to have different gameplay mechanics and styles.

Seeing all of this only affirms to me that we need more Dragon Quest monster catching games.
Dragon Quest XI was confirmed to get a DQM spinoff a while back, but good luck getting it in the US. The 3DS skipped 3 DQM games coming here, although they all have at least partial fan translations now. Plus they haven't even released the enhance emulated Gameboy version from the Switch here.
A throwback stylus with Palkia/Dialga on top but made for the Switch would be a really cool nod to the OG Diamond and Pearl. They released with a special stylus with the box legendary on top since they were the first DS titles. I still have my Palkia stylus from all those years ago and use it if I ever get out my 3DS.

I still have my Palkia on sitting in my pen caddy next to me. Surprisingly comfortable stylus to use. Have my Ho-oh and Giratina figures from those preorders too, but still need to hunt down the matching Lugia.

I absolutely agree. When people said they wanted a D/P remake, they were probably meaning that they wanted something that rebuilt the region from scratch; for example, the environments all being updated and playing similarly to Sun and Moon, albeit far less linear, and the character models being upscaled.
I'm sure they didn't mean "just D/P but with 3D models."
If Square Enix is able to remake their games like this:
Then TPC and Game Freak should have no issue achieving a similar result.
To be honest tho, Game Freak was never graphically good to begin with. They’re always behind the competition. Plus Pokemon never had great graphics for its time to begin with.

Honestly I never minded the graphics of the series because the style made up for it. I don’t know why but there is something charming about the blocky 2D graphics especially in the DS era. Also maybe it might be me being a Unovabortion but I really liked how scratchy and rough the sprites and environment looked in the BW games.

I honestly don't care that much for the remake's graphics. However, they look like a red flag to me when it comes to how substantial the game will be. There's a very real possibility that there won't be any Platinum additions if ORAS and the trailer's "faithful" aesthetic is anything to go by. Really, all I want is a meaty and polished 60 dollar game with the Pokemon gameplay loop (god forbid) and this trailer ain't giving me anything to be hyped about. It's giving me a very similar vibe to when Gen 8 was announced way back when and I couldn't see many reasons to get interested in it. Hopefully the new dev team will pick up the slack when it comes to base content but i'm just not feeling it now. I guess time will tell.

The Legends game looks interesting but I think it'd be better if they learned what anti-aliasing was and make the 4fps framerate consistent with every entity. Being perfectly fair, though, there's still more than a year of polish before release, which is more than what could be said about SWSH 6 months pre-launch. Other than that, it looks unique and fun, so I'm geniunely curious to see what they'll do with it if only because Gamefreak is getting out of its comfort zone in the franchise.

The objectively best part, though, is that we'll soon be able to play a Pokemon game called Pokemon BDSP.

Same

I'm not sure what to think about either game because I feel like I shouldn't get my hopes up. The remake's probably not gonna be that different from the original or have Platinum's storyline+content so why bother with it? Legends looks promising, but I'm just as cautious thinking it won't be as good either. Sword and Shield along with GF's lies and the normie shilling really soured my faith in the series. Just can't get excited or enjoy being a fan after all that knowing it can and will probably happen again with these.

I was set to get the Dialga one with my pre order back in the day, but when my mom went to pick the game up for me they told her they were all out of the styluses. She asked why when they should've reserved one for my preorder, but they never really answered beyond being out. I think that store in particular was giving them all away to anyone who bought the game rather than just preorders. One of the few preorder bonuses I never got growing up.

Makes me wonder why the hell GF felt so threatened by the series enough to compete with it and force Rotom to be with the player similar to the ghost dude in YW.

Even though I've only ever seen one episode, the Yokai Watch anime is far better than the Pokemon one because the mandog gets sent to Alcatraz for pissing in public. Also to stay on topic, I'm hoping those D&P remakes aren't just a barebones remaster.

My guess? Yokai Watch was getting close to kicking Pokemon's ass in Japan. From what I understand, Rotomdex was poorly received in the West but the Japs ate it up because it was just so damn cute. Kind of like how they thought Tingle was whimsical and fun but we all thought knew he gave off creepy pedo vibes.

...Thinking about it more, these two are either wish fulfilment or a monkey's paw. There's a lot of things that feel like a response to the complaints people had about SwSh, but in rather unusual ways.

I feel worn out by the Pokemon series. The Arceus game could've been an amazing trailer yet they leave in the crap fps issues. After SwSh, I don't trust GF to make a competent Pokemon game.

I do look forward to New Pokemon Snap though. I should just stick with 3rd party made Pokemon games at this point.
