Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

In the announcement they directly stated, though I'm phrasing, "with all the Pokemon from the original Diamond and Pearl" which I took to mean no new Pokemon, no Regional forms, and no Pokemon after Gen4.
I'm expecting the game to have the Platinum dex throughout the main game with the non-P dex pokemon being post-game.

Ah, okay, let me amend my previous thing about why the Legends starters were chosen - they’re all a reference to Feudal Japan, as well as could be said to reference Japanese animals.

Samurott’s the most obvious, being based on the Samurai. Decidueye is an Archer, not as specific to Japan but still themed around the time. Typhlosion, or rather, Bakufoon is the most tenuous. The name is used to refer to Bakufu, which was the term for a shogun’s officials.

min terms of animals, again, Samurotts the easiest, with sea otters going to northern Japan - aka Hokkaido aka Sinnoh. Honey Badgers like Cyndaquil are also present in Japan, as are a few types of owl.

Wouldnt the whole point be that you'd get starters not native to japan. Since you get them in an embassy type building?

That's why none of them are the sinnoh starters - and actually, only one of them is from a region based on Japan (Cyndaquil.)

The problem is that, aside from Infernape, not many fire starters have a strong reference to Japanese culture, and infernape himself is Sinnoan. Emboar the sumo was beaten by Samurott and Incineroar by Rowlet, Fennekin and Scorbunny are medieval and modern Europe as is Charizard.

Blaziken could have been a candidate, being based on Cockfighting which was a thing in the end of the shogun period, but that likely wasn't early enough for it to be counted among the others.

I'm honestly really psyched that Gamefuck finally decided to outsource something mainline for once, considering SwSh kinda killed any kind of promise I thought that company held when it comes to making 3d games. Plus the chibi style is honestly pretty close to the sprites used in DPPt wrt proportions and bobbleheadedness, and ngl I can't wait til the game comes out and people rip the models since they basically beg to be 3d printed into mini figurines. 'S cute, and to be honest if the region isn't going to be redone to look like a new gen region map/camera/scenery wise, then it'd look really off having the nonchibi models for overworld in the remakes.

Legends: Arceus definitely comes off as really experimental of a new spinoff direction or even series direction, but... Gamefreak, lol. Considering SwSh chugs in offline play when transitioning between wild area zones, I can only imagine how retarded the framerate will be solo and how hot the Switch will run trying to do multiplayer, and speaking of that, how braindead the multiplayer will be. I'm not even thinking about Nintendo's shit servers, but just how ass-backwards the online connectivity functions have become ever since the games went 3D. I doubt they'll use the stamp system again, but whatever the hell they come up with in its place will be cancer.

The new snap game is cute I guess. Can't wait for gen v fans to hype to hell and back for remakes, if only for the inevitable PETA shitfit PR stunt when it comes out bc Team Plasma is literally a hypocritical soyboy PETA vegan cult and all. Hoping for some laughs.

In other news, along with Leon, Marnie is also in pokemon masters.

I feel worn out by the Pokemon series. The Arceus game could've been an amazing trailer yet they leave in the crap fps issues. After SwSh, I don't trust GF to make a competent Pokemon game.

I do look forward to New Pokemon Snap though. I should just stick with 3rd party made Pokemon games at this point.
I’ll paraphrase something I said in the SBFP thread. SwSh looked like a ps2 game most of the time, ran poorly, and was so buggy that it was apparently bricking some consoles; and this was in a game that mostly followed the classic series template to the letter. BotW was an incredibly ambitious game that was made with emergent gameplay and a sense of discovery in mind; with an extremely large team and long-ass production cycle that bordered on development hell. I distinctly remember climbing on top of one of the 3 labyrinths and just jumping over to the shrine in the middle because I happened to cook a bunch of stamina food beforehand; and breaking one of the guroscope shrines when I realized the other side of the plane you were supposed to manipilate the ball through was completely flat. In light of Sword and Shield I’m reasonably sure they lack the skill and manpower to pull off what Legends seems to be promissing. I’m absolutely sure they haven’t had the time.

Gamefreak has never had coding wizards on staff. Reminder that they were struggling with GBC hardware while developing Gold and Silver and it wasn't till Satoru Iwata fixed the code himself that they got anything good running (he's also the reason there was enough space for Kanto). You would think either them or Nintendo would get another developer to help make games that don't run like hot garbage.

Speaking of which, do we even know how long this has been under development?

I feel like the sword and shield problems hold much better than a literally 20 year old game's problems. And there's VASTLY more staff on now that there were during the GS era.

IIRC, Sword and Shield was made by the B team, right?

Absolute longest this game would have been in development is 4-5 years - as that's when BotW came out. I have no doubt that Legends is inspired by BotW.
