Pokemon was basically my childhood. I watched the anime and played some of the games of my Gameboy Color, though I only got as far as owning Red/Blue/Yellow/Gold/Silver (and Pinball? There was a Pokemon pinball if memory serves me right). My younger brother had a Gameboy Color too, not that he played much/used it much, so I just used it to trade between my different games (both Pokemon I didn't have plus to get evolutions). Sometimes I'd battle other kids at recess (all the cool kids were into Pokeymanz I swear). Fun times. Later I got a Gameshark but didn't do too much with it -- got Mew because I hadn't heard of the Mew trick and was well past Celadon at that point anyway lol.
I don't own a Nintendo anything, nor have I played the more recent generations of Pokemon, though. I've always been debating trying to find, say,a DS secondhand (on a student budget it'd have to be!) and playing again (the Pokemon 3D coming up sounds super exciting!) but never seem to actually go through with it. For now, ROMs for Red/Gold suffice -- for a while I played FireRed on a GBA emulator but that was kinda wonky -- maybe it was my computer but it kept crashing if you played it too long, or made everything lag, and ditto for the DS emulator I tried. Maybe it's because I'm using a Mac I have no idea. But right now KiGB suits me fine.
