IANAL, but he might end up in Federal. If he stole money directly from a bank account, that might cross into Federal jurisdiction, so after he's done with State charges there could be Federal ones waiting for him too.

If they believe that Barb has dementia, and they believe Chris has been committing elder abuse, than they are likely coming to the conclusion that ALL of the money transfers constitute theft. Chris is taking money and bills are going unpaid for example.

They're actually treating him like a woman, regional(as far as I know,) is the only facility in the area that handles women.
Regional is also less than an hour from me, LOL.

Edit: I didn't know there were multiple "regional," jails. I'm unsure if Central Virginia Regional is similar to Western Virginia Regional, in the sense that they house female inmates as well.

If they’re like regional prisons in the Carolinas (PL I lived there as a kid), they may have both sexes housed there. It was always default to get trannies to a facility with both so you can dump ‘em in a locked utility room and call it adseg “but for the ladies”
