DELPHI, Ind. (WLS) -- Indiana State Police are expected to release more details Monday morning about an arrest in the 2017 murder of two girls in Delphi

Police are expected to name the suspect during a news conference in Delphi at 9 a.m. Central Time.

Residents told ABC7 they've interacted with the suspect multiple times and said the individual reportedly worked at a local pharmacy.

Sources tell ABC's Indianapolis affiliate a person has been arrested in connection with the murders.

"The state police never really discussed details on what was found at the scene, but the belief all along is that there was at least some sort of genetic material," Brad Garrett, ABC News contributor and former FBI agent. "Clearly they have something that links him to the crime."

The case has been shrouded in mystery since February 2017 when 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German seemingly disappeared after going for a hike. Their bodies were found the next day.

"How did this come to light almost five years after this crime was committed?" Garret said. "Something broke in recent days, at least to the point that it gave them enough probable cause and evidence to arrest this new person."

The girls' killer was able to avoid capture, even with thousands of tips coming in to police and despite one of the teens, Libby, taking this grainy video the day of their disappearance showing a man walking towards the girls.

Authorities have said he may be the killer. Libby also captured a chilling recording, thought to be the man's voice.

Libby's family reacted to the update expected later Monday. Her sister Kelsi tweeted, "just know how grateful I am for all of you."

Just know how grateful I am for all of you. No comments for now, any questions please refer to the Carroll county prosecutors office. There is tentatively a press conference Monday at 10am. We will say more then. Today is the day%uD83D%uDC9C

I'm watching the press conference on WGN News.
Why does it look like an old new reel from the early 80s? lol
These guys aren't going to tell anybody anything.
Once the trial starts, then details might come out.

Look at that fat pedo fuck. So many people are going to be horrified that they let their kids near him at any point. I imagine many people knew or suspected but there just wasn't enough evidence. And right now there's not much info but his name and that he worked at a pharmacy. Was he the same guy with the son who was waiting to be picked. The younger guy who told that suspicious lady that his van broke down?

I wonder what details will be released in the trial. Maybe I don't want to know. I still regret reading what happened to Lori Daybell's kids.

Who knew about this to be RichardPosting all the way back in 2020?

The aforementioned threads were pointed out here.

Delphi is a tiny town. That video of "Bridge Guy" shows enough of him that someone had to know who that was. I'm convinced his wife knew it was him. Her facebook history stops right about the time of the murders then starts back up around a year later with a pic of their kid at that very bridge? Bitch please.

The police likely knew it was Richard Allen from the start but either didn't have enough evidence to arrest OR were waiting around to see who else they could catch. Kegan Kline and his dad Tony, for instance. Don't know how much they had to do with this case but they certainly need to be set ablaze.

But just think. Richard Allen was out there, living his life, for five, almost six years. Luckily there's no way he could have been harming other little kids in that time, right?
The public, children included, were safe all along?
No killer would think of doing such a thing more than once, after all. Whoever heard of something like that happening.

hope he rots, if indeed he is the responsible party.

there's been a lot of shit coming out about the case but a lot of its hearsay, locals said the police dug up his yard and found some souvenirs of the girls which led to the arrest and charges, however, the prosecution had the court seal evidence until the trial, so i'm not entirely sure how accurate that is.

I remember this case because it was so damn haunting. I hope they got the guy and have the evidence for it (the police still are not releasing many details). What I find interesting is that information was released earlier this year and it’s gruesome. That little clip we heard of the suspect saying “down the hill” was part of a bigger clip that was around 42 seconds long. God only knows what was heard on the rest of it. It was also in court warrant documents that the bodies were staged and the killer might have taken a souvenir from, or even photos of, the crime scene.

That’s the big question, isn’t it? I don’t believe this guy suddenly snapped and killed two girls out of the blue. He’s done something like this before.

He certainly looks like Bridge Guy, but he has a really clean history. I'm not sure that I buy he just suddenly decided to murder to teens. Especially since one looked like his daughter.
Apparently he went to alcohol rehab in 2017 not long after this, but was seen in later FB posts drinking with his wife at the bar. It's very possible he had done stuff like this before but got sloppy from the drinking. Leaving a phone with video of yourself doing the crime is pretty stupid and sloppy. I bet his computer was full of CP and maybe videos of the killing and that's what got them to dig up the yard. Hopefully they'll let the public know during or after the trial. Does anyone know if Indiana can show trials on TV/Youtube? Since Indiana has the death penalty I figure he'll plead guilty though.

There is a rule where judges cannot broadcast trials. After the Rittenhouse trial there was a a program made that allowed 5 counties to broadcast trials but I don't think the county Delphi in was part of it. I think the pilot program may have already ended too.

I can't tell if they mean the original program was only 4 months or this one.
