I can’t wait till we get a response in about 2 weeks.

The one where Null will still call all of us faggots, and that we don't know how a forum works? Then shit his pants and do nothing?

Again, for anyone just coming in, it's like that whole 'I'm one degree too warm to be perfectly comfy' analogy I said, like, a week ago. Sure, I can still use the site without notifications, but I dislike having watched threads be prominent on my front page, and I don't feel like exploring the forum anymore. It's a cumbersome mobile experience.

But all that said, it's still such a trivial thing to take away. Null just looks bad in the long run doubling down on it all.

The reaction system, which exists to provide feedback on individual posts, is having a chilling effect on the entire site.

I am not undoing this. I am observing genuine psychological damage inflicted on people.
I think you should write to Reddit and inform them that the users fear they might receive downdoots and it's crippling their community and causing psychological damage to real human beings. The only solution is removing notifications to avoid their users having a mental breakdown in the DMs like yours are.

There was already an option to turn off notifications which people can use if they're really bothered by trash cans or puzzle pieces, but now everyone has notifications disabled because of a select few hiding in DM chains. Are these people who complained even over 18?

I personally had notifications off anyway but now I can't turn them back on even if I wanted to (which I did frequently). Very cool. Instead of instructing the vexed users to use a feature, you forced everyone else to use it one way.

Even a solution of "opt in" for react notifications would have been better than this. Make it the default behaviour but let people use them if they really want to.

Yeah, that sums it up pretty nicely. Folks just plainly hate being told what to do and having things taken away, especially on Kiwi Farms.

Null can bring up forum ettiquette and 'user efficiency' all he wants, but it's just human to resist change if there's no real tangible reason for it. I like to think this post I made weeks earlier illustrates that point

Have you ever heard the term 'the customer is always right' Null? Well, here they are. And they don't want the lunch menu. They want the sticker menu.

Null DEFINITELY hates the fuck out of being told what to do. Guess who runs the site? Do you think he's going to cuck out of a decision he made because people yell at him?

You know, I sympathize with the Falling Down guy on most things he does, but he was just being an absolute shithead there and the whole scene shows the obliviousness of Hollywood fuckfaces to the ordinary guy working a shit job. He's abusing fast food workers who are not refusing to make breakfast because they're jerks and sticklers for the rules, but because in fast food, when you switch over from breakfast, all that shit you need to make it gets put away, new shit gets put in its place, and on top of that it's against the rules of the guy paying you. So you could inconvenience everyone else in line to appease the one fucker who is demanding breakfast, then get fired on top of that, or you could say "no."

I don't know why you're in an uncharacteristically pissy mood, but I wouldn't call reversing a decision based on mild criticism to be 'cucking' out because people are yelling at him.

Yeah, it's his site. It's a bad look for a site owner to be pissy at his own site users.

if you disagree with me, feel free to tell me why

The mild criticism is less prominent than all of the crying that has gone on. Most people who didn't make this their identity have gotten over it by now. The site hasn't gone dead or been horribly damaged so if he changed it based on the loudly crying minority it absolutely would be cucking out. Stickers are still there and serving their purpose, but now people feel less inclined to make it their primary metric for engaging with the site. Exactly what he wanted. People getting so upset about a nonissue is more likely to reinforce his thinking anyways, which makes this all that much funnier.

Truth be told, Im just apathetic to the situation than upset.

As for the site not being damaged or dead by this specific decision, why would it be? The whole hubbub started from a vocal minority, and Null ended up complying with that vocal minority.

That said, I do think there is some truth to this 'drama' being the writing on the wall; the only force powerful enough to take down Kiwi Farms is the man who built it.
