I'm actually leaning towards tolerating it as long as it's gentle or relevant. Something Awful had a lot of people pitching projects at its peak.
I am a newfag, but my opinion is that we should not allow self-promotion.

People could present their product as XYZ, but it's actually XYaZ. Then you have to get into the territory of vetting what gets promoted, what it actually is, what is permissible, and what is not permissible. It may turn into something you and the rest of staff do not want to deal with.

Also, someone sketchy might promote something here, get in trouble, and now you have to deal with it. Even if Kiwi Farms is not directly threatened, it's still extra work, and the community could get associated with a bad actor.

I'm not opposed to entrepreneurship but I don't think that this is the place for it. At registration, the website literally tells you not to associate your real-life identity to your identity on the site. Allowing self-promotion goes against this ethos.

Absolutely no OnlyFans whores though. That shit is obnoxious and fucking everywhere.

I will straight up leave the site if it's allowed I hate seeing it spammed.

I don't know why anyone is worried about OF promotions. The site is SFW and Null fucking hates whores. I don't think there's any way that fake tits with soulless eyes are going to get sold on here.

Honestly allowing for users to pay to advertise on a small banner in a specific sub-forum wouldn't be a half bad idea. If they believe that their market is the people who use that particular sub-forum why not take advantage of that? Any users who do not wish to see that could just block it easily with any ad-blocker.

If someone has the nerve, confidence and pure brass balls to promote their product on the Kiwi Fucking Farms, the Internet Hate Machine and Doxing boogaboo of the normie-net, I say more power to em.

They will either get completely torn apart as they deserve for being fucking retarded, or else their product is actually good enough to win over probably the toughest and most autistic consumer group on the Internet if not in the entire civilized world.

It seems to me that this website has a good method for discouraging self-advertisement, in that users will look up your history and embarrass you if you behave anyway that users do not like. So in theory advertisement should self-regulate along the lines you describe in the OP. Nobody's going to make an account to post about their penis cream after the first guy does it and everyone finds out that he raped a girl behind an Arby's in 1998

As long as the promotor is of good character, the work is contributive to society, and the subject stays in the relevant threads.

next thing you know we're gonna have fucking banner ads
Kiwi Farms might be the one place I'd like to see ads. Imagine the crazy shit we'd see.

Boogie's no-wash body soap next to Chantal brand circus tent burqas next to @FROG's CyberFrog Special Anniversary Memorial Deluxe Bloodhoney Exclusive Re-Re-Re-Release next to @CrunkLord420's TempleOS Pro Enterprise Edition...

I think that as long as it is STRICTLY relevant to discussion, I would not mind. Maybe have some kind of tag that people could hide, or just tag in general as an indication.

It does work in practice as well. The morons who turn up just to farm for engagement tend to disappear extremely quickly when someone digs out their porn site favorites to point out they're unironically beating it to actual BBC cuck porn.
