One relevant post about one's own project is fine. Responding to replies to that post or other posts about the project in question from other non-sock users is fine.
- create a subforum
- charge small to reasonable fee to post in subforum
- appoint janny to ensure shit posted in forum is legal etc
- no advertising outside of the subforum
Let users configure their profile with an opt-in badge similar to "Disruptive Guest" or "True & Honest Fan". Have it link to their About section. It would be a fitting place to view or avoid for users and it could even be a subscription service.
Said no, but I'd be okay with it.
Thinking on it I probably should switch to Yes.
I just hate grifters and expect a lot of scrutiny of anyone pushing shit on here.
Granted this is the farms - that will likely happen.
Wasn't some newfag tried to advertise his/her book before? And it was shit, so everybody told it so?
I distinctly remember something like that happened in here.
I don't think is a good idea tbh, we come here to shitpost and talk shit... But maybe it's me because I see KF as an entertainment forum instead of something seriously.
I mean, if it's regulated to its own board I don't see why not. I'd buy a custom made dog collar or some shit from you autists for my negative brain cells dogs instead of fucking Amazon or some shit.
If people who create quality content associate with the forum in large numbers, then the forum will be seen as a platform that quality people associate with, and it will gain a positive reputation. If you're willing to take irl criticism about being on the site, and it won't damage your reputation to be known to post here, I don't see why you wouldn't promote your creations and affiliations in related conversation.
Depending on what they're doing. People should be able to link cow stream snipes / watch parties, but actual-factual shilling, maybe make them get T&H. Like if you want to shill your shit here, you should support the site too.
Just my thoughts.
If spammers aren't signing up now with a posting bot, it seems unlikely that a rule change will make them start. That's the kind of ad that's no fun: someone blindly posting ads for counterfeit shoes in a language they don't speak.
Mentioning a project when it's on-topic for the thread, or an on-topic thread in a sub-board to advertise a project, is reasonable. If it's on-topic and furthers discussion, it's good for KF.
Still probably not a good idea for the person/product being advertised, but that's their decision.
I would say yes but on the condition that they pay a small fee in crypto. Even if you're really making much money off of it for the site, any sort of upfront cost would prevent a lot of low-effort con artistry.
Should be easy enough to evaluate on a case-by-case basis to weed out low-effort grifters. It would be nice to have a prospering grounds like area for it.
The worst we can do is call you a nigger faggot and dox you but straight-up deplatformation/life ruination are the usual tactics used by certain groups against KF so if you're willing to risk that then I think you can put up with farmers laughing at you.
