Your typical story of using poly as a way to openly cheat on your partner
TheUsualStory.png

"relationship agreement" :story:

i wonder if they mean something like an actual (unenforceable) contract? i've met morons who endorse exactly that. it seems like a way for shitty people to get away with shitty behaviour: when you're about to do something shitty, you can usually tell that it'll hurt your partner, but 1) the contract can't possibly cover every situation, 2) as evidenced by this thread, people don't know how they'll feel about something in practice rather than theory. consequently, you can hurt the person you're with, then make them look like the bad guy when they try to enforce a reasonable boundary you didn't """agree""" to

’Couple privilege’ is one of the funniest things to complain. Cheese, your partner puts values higher their long term partner and relationship rather thang a new fling and wants keep their routines, how about that? They want to protect existing relationships and give some control about sleeping around to their partner for their comfort, sanity and safety? They also aren’t that intrest helping you out and listen your problems in a deeper level? It’s almost like they mostly want just some extra sex and fun on the side. It’s honestly not that complicated. There are two main types that seem to want open their relationships, those that have problems with their existing relationship but are too cowardly to leave it without new relationships and those that like their existing relationship but want some extra sexual attention. That’s what you choose to deal with that when you got in to poly.

Also I don’t think it’s sexist that women have more trouble with couple dynamics than men do. Guys are a lot more cool with casual sex only than girls are. Women tend to be needier, wanting long talks and dates, where as guy is good with slam-bam-thank-you-ma’am. Poly just isn’t really easy way to get your emotional needs met. Sexual fantasies maybe as more highly sexually motivated people gravitate towards the live style. Emotional stuff needs time, commitment and other resources that get increasingly thinly spread with more people.

When did the term polyamory come into being?I always thought of it as an attempt by swingers/open relation types/and people who just fuck with whoever as a method of making their lifestyle more acceptable.Saying its 'love' and not just random no strings attached sex makes it sound more appealing at a formal level.A way of gaining so called 'respectability'.Personally i don't care either way but i do worry that it won't be long until some polyamory type starts demanding representation quotas in politics or whatever. That should be funny or creepy if they're taken seriously that is.

She sounds insufferable. Just how many different ways can she say he's devastated and sobbing over breaking up with her? The reality probably is you were his fuck buddy, you were good enough to fuck but not to have a real relationship with, and once he met someone to settle down with, you weren't needed or wanted anymore.

The fact that she actually writes that “none of my previous partners cared” about her having Herpes really says it all.

Disgusting, filthy hippies who think nothing of catching an STD if it means they can have yet another rump in the hay.

Would mind it as much if they at least were honest about it, instead of moralfagging and trying to present themselves as oh so ethical and higher evolved than the normies with their boring monogamy.

Like a lot of other things that later turned out to be one of the many seeds of modern day identity politics, the term was created in the 1990s. However, in practice, polyamory is just a fancy word for "polygamy and everything that comes with it except the concerned parties aren't necessarily married" or the type of people you mentioned

Its funny how even primitive tribes figured out that free for all relationships don't actually work, Polygyny, which means one having having multiple wives was actually the most common practice amongst all societies, in terms of numbers of people monogamy was far more prevalent but anthropologists found that around roughly 70% of all societies ever discovered polygyny was the most common practice. Polyandry, a women with multiple husbands was significantly less and would only really be found in hilly regions. Polyamory has never really existed because humans are far too hierarchical and possessive in nature to want to share with everybody. The only reason the previously mentioned systems worked was because they were very patriarchal or matriarchal respectively

I would really like to know what the majority of these folks look like, why do I get the funny feeling they're all ugly fat misfits

From personal experience of meeting people who are "poly" they're not too bad looking, that said its always people very much in the soc just crowd so they stand out as degenerates because of their often "unique" taste in attire. What I generally noticed is that its always one being cucked because they are often quiet and shy and seem to be lucky to have a partner at all, while the more domineering partner uses the weaker one for emotional support while having the benefits of sex with whom ever they so choose.

You've had good luck. Between the pictures posted here and the various fools I know in real life engaged in this they aren't exactly turning heads. Generally the men are okay and the women are dumptrucks. Something about schlubby ho's that makes them more likely to kickstart this stuff. Either way the last image I saw of one of the local meet-ups looked like a mix of sex-offenders and insurance adjusters.

This has been my overwhelming experience of the poly community. I've known a fair number of people in that community, and it's not a pack of raving beauties. Not even close.

It's reddit, you don't have to imagine. Typically, when we deep dive, they're not usually horrendous looking - but they're usually awful people.

Poly and has Herpes, sometimes fucks in a Florida lake.
Married, with aspergers. Does not get along with her mother in law.
Hates kids, posts on r/childfree.
Spends time looking up people she allegedly knew on instagram, pointing out how they're fake pictures.
Likes Yaoi (gay hentai) and a sexual assault victim that brings it up several times on reddit.
Left (13) and Right (21).
She's a little greasy but I would throw her one - if she wasn't a poly nutcase with herpes.

That's because it was mainly practiced by warlike societies where the majority of men died young. It was a population replacement mechanism. It's positively medieval to keep doing it today.

Women also acted as a form of currency exchange in a lot of these societies too, look up the Tiwi aboriginals, they would literally auction off a dudes wives at his funeral.

She has a bad case of autism face. Classic Chris wasn't really "ugly" either, but there was obviously something wrong with him.
