Polyamory General - Polyamory drama from Facebook, Reddit, and more

I'd like to apologize because the majority of the things I post are going to be really long. You may say, "yeah because it's 18,400 members of course posts will have huge comment chains!" but that's not true. There are like, maybe 200 active participants on the groups main page, and they are all cut from the same cloth Kylie is.

It wasn't long before I began to understand how much the "absurd" rules helped me be less of an ass in this world and the conversations and posts by admins and wiser members even helped me to finally see and understand some life-long damaging and invalidating beliefs that hurt me (and some folx I engaged with) very deeply. Being able to understand also means being able to not have to spend so much energy on behaviors and thoughts that aren't only inaccurate, but not necessary or possible for me to keep up with

tl;dr - a dude starts "dating" an engaged woman. They start spending all their time together despite her fiancee saying he wants to be the primary partner. The Fiancee goes into the hospital while the guy and the girl dash off to a multi-day music festival. While in the hospital the girl blows the fuck up for him sexting someone else, despite their being in an open relationship. The fiancee then says open relationships don't work and she has to stop it, and now the boyfriend wrote 1,400 words shit talking someone for "gaslighting" and "abuse" because he was thrown away.

If it wasn't apparent the boyfriend is an idiot - I know his "girlfriend" is engaged because within 30 seconds of searching I found her and her fiancee. Oh yeah, and the boyfriend is a doofy looking baby. You're on your way to a bright future, superstar!

Potential unpopular opinion time: every party in this situation is at fault. If it really happened that way, all three people violated the "agreement" that was outlined (no coworkers, everybody is an equal partner (at first), etc.), going into the fiance's cell phone was a violation of trust, and the guy and woman shouldn't have gone to the festival when the fiance was that sick.

They're all assholes and deserve each other. (That said, the relationship between the two fiances does sound incredibly unhealthy, and I hope they seek couple's counseling.)
 
Really if anything this shows that it was never Religion that caused crazy backwards people it's been crazy backwards people just latching on to anything to guide them because they hate thinking. If these people were born 30 years ago they'd be the people crying we should ban Halloween because it's the devil.

This is a topic that can get derailed extremely quickly, so let's try to keep the focus on the Polyamory Facebook group and its workings and members- general discussion about polyamory is more suited to Off-Topic or Deep Thoughts.
 
Have any of the mods/admins had a spat with each other? I'd love to see that.

To be fair, in monogamy, every situation is one dumb relationship two people go on about, so at most two internet rants. Once you're in a 3-person thing, that's three dumb relationships 3 people won't shut up about = 9 internet agony units; 4-person = 6 dumb relationships 4 people won't shut up about = 24 internet agony units etc.

Whether your n! internet rants per n-poly relationship are worse than a monogamous couple's internet footprint * n!/2 depends on whether anyone involved is a translatinx.
 
As people get further and further away from the sexual mainstream they get more and more paranoid about how "normal" people perceive them.

Introducing arbitrary rules to dictate your discourse is a great way to feel like you have some kind of control over all the prying, judging eyes.
