Personally i wouldn't care that much about so called polyrelations if polys didn't try so much to make themselves into the next opressed 'minority'.Polys today seem increasingly focused on positioning themselves as being an opressed minority and finding any sort of 'evidence' of their opression.Say what you will about someone like Errol Flynn but he never complained about how society doesn't get his desires. He may have been a drunk ,drug addict and sex offender but he didn't blame society for not getting it.

In western society, homosexuals and transsexuals went from being ostracized and in some cases literally imprisoned to politically and societally protected in a remarkably short period of time; practically a single generation. So it's only natural that practitioners of other kinks like polyamorists would try to associate with the LGBT movement and try to attain some of the same legitimacy, as zoophiles and literal pedophiles have also tried to do.

Jesus Christ, guys. Long time lurker first time poster here, but this is it. This is the post that got me. I joined just so I could share this cursed post with all of you: link

TL;DR: Guy finds new chick, breaks up with 4-year girlfriend by springing all the issues he has with their relationship on her at once. She says she'll make changes to address those issues (which is exactly what the subreddit tells people to do) and he says "nah" and leaves to be with new chick. Same shit different day.

It's the comments that got me. Got some quality responses in here about how this is all on OP and how dare she feel hurt by this:
"I was on the other side of this. [Proceeds to describe the commentor did the same thing to his ex and is now happily married to the new girl.] We, all of us, love fully and without restrictions; we're all happy. It's a beautiful thing."

Don't you want your ex to be happy, OP?

"I suspect that's what has happened here. Didn't realize just how much this stuff was bothering him until he had something to compare it to. But that's not because it wasn't bothering him."

Your relationship was actually shit. If it wasn't shit this wouldn't have happened.

"OP needs to actually reflect on the relationship."

Might polyamory cause issues? No, it is the relationship that was wrong.

"Diving into polyamory can definitely be a danger to a long term relationship if the partner finds somebody who seems better to them overall than their nesting partner. It's only natural for people to compare partners, unfortunately."

Remember kids, in polyamory, you need to constantly compete against your metamors! Only it's totally not a competition and also we all love each other and jealousy isn't a thing.

"Go through the grieving process here and then spend some time figuring yourself out."

This is a you problem.

"Your person wasn’t practicing polyam. Your person was in love and wanted a relationship with another person besides you."

Something something no true Scotsman.

It's sad anyone is surprised that when they agree to get cucked, they actually get cucked. What did they expect?

Were there further posts by the OP clarifying that the OP was a chick and the SO was a dude? If so, it does seem to subvert the standard story with these relationships where the dude agrees to a poly relationship in order to keep the chick happy and then the chick uses the "get out of adultery free" card to find her a better dude. It seems like when a man is unhappy in a relationship, rather than asking to go poly, he'll either just feel free to cheat without permission, or just dump the woman outright. But I suppose anything's possible with this sort of thing.

Nah, I find that those sorts of things happen regardless of gender.

90% of the time, whoever opens the relationship up is the one who has it backfire on them. This is, of course, because anyone who wants to "open up" their relationship is a bullying piece of shit who wants to cheat on their partner and not only get away with it, but rub it in their partner's face. Those sorts of people don't get many dates, and it's not hard for their SO to find someone less awful once they start dating.

In this particular case, the repeated use of "they" to describe everyone suggests to me that everyone involved is the kind of terrible obese dangerhair genderblob that seem drawn to polyamory.

Not to mention that polygamy is legal in many countries anyway; this isn't a hypothetical scenario. Have any of these people ever talked about moving to somewhere in Africa or Asia where polygamy is legal, or even somewhere like South Africa where it's not really legal but recognised under customary law? Jacob Zuma was infamously polygamous and held office.

Polyamory is narcissism taken to an extreme, especially with children in the mix.

Something's going to happen and your wife's boyfriend is going to rape someone in the household, and it's probably going to be a little kid.

@BigRuler Oops, thought I had added the link.

notably, the husband is not unattractive, i'd say he actually looks better than the boyfriend. he doesn't have the soy/cuck look to him, and none of them are fat. very unusual compared to what we're used to seeing from that subreddit.
They are surprisingly good looking, both better looking that she is. The best looking one is the husband.

Plot twist: what if they are both closeted gays?

God, these people treat their partners' boyfriends as surrogate father figures to make up for the ones they didn't have growing up. How embarrassing.

Are most polyamorists ugly?

Every single one I've met has been.

I have no idea what his wife and other girlfriend were like but I imagine they were probably hideous landwhales based on this thread.

You were feeling generous when you posted this.

Are most polyamorists ugly? The answers may shock you.

Yes.
And usually fat.
It's like they know they aren't attractive so they get other non attractive people to fuck them in some paltry attempt to validate to themselves and others that they are fat/ugly and someone would have sex with them.

Having resigned themselves that one 6 is beyond their means, the polyamorist opts for two 3s.
