Pop science and informational YouTube channels...full of misinformation. - When the fact checking is worse than Buzzfeed

Emp is an incompetent fuck so I dont know why you thought he isnt a sperg.

Again, the difference between the history of ideas/analysis of cause/effect ideas and being an informative historian. If youre gonna do an informative video (informative, not argumentative function) like in the thread, you should be as unbiased as possible. Where being an "old school journalist" isn't a bad thing. Historia Civilis doesn't tend to leave information out, but he's still very biased when it comes down to it, which weighs down his content and brings it to a mildly spergy level.

On a different note, Mark Felton is one of the worst when it comes to tank warfare and... anything in general. See his video where he claims the nazis created time travel. He doesn't cite any sources and appeals to plebbit for views. As bad as a few of these guys are, they don't match him in level of uselessness.
Hey there is a place to talk about youtube lolcows here on kiwifarms.

Ridddle is some YouTube documentary channel that make a lot of what if videos with terrible science. It's based in Russia and goes out of its way to fish for advertisers in the video descriptions. Some of them are hilarious saying they'll take ads for 1 million dollars. It's the channel that kurzgesagt ended up making a reply to their bullshit "What would happen if you set off a nuke in the Marianas Trench?" video

And the kurzgesagt reply that caused Ridddle to add "fantasy not science" to the title when they realised they'd been called out.

They're still at it today though, it looks like they released a climate change video 4 days ago that's probably full of bullshit.

About half the stuff this guy says is wrong. It's like the script was generated by an AI or something.
What the hell even is this thumbnail. A nuclear powered BFR with a massive ion thruster? The only way this would work in concept is if it only ever flew in space, unless it's boosted out of atmosphere by traditional rocketry. Leaning on not even Elon ever suggesting this, even with his insane plans.

If anyone says Vsauce, I will cut them
:jaceknife:
the only vsauce i want to see on the screen is a cage fight to the death with simon whistler, gypsy style with their right hands bound together and only one knife. then kill whoever wins and stream the decaying corpses for 5 years like some kind of shia labeouf art project

This belongs here:
While he and the other channels mentioned will shill at the drop of a hat, I think in this situation most of them (including veritasium) legitimately believe in what they're saying because big tech companies said it and they took it as gospel, which honestly makes it worse to me. These supposed "educators" don't actually realize the massive holes in the dogma of automation.

I wonder if we're ever going to see actual suffers of intersexual disorders actually speak up and say that they don't like this shit being said about them. I know that if I had the unfortunate luck to be born infertile and have several genetic diseases that make my life hell, I'd be pretty pissed at people making it look like it's a wonderful life full of sunshine and roses and trying to rope me in with the absolute clusterfuck that is lgbta2oasdkwd+.

Knowing Better. At least with his recent video.

Here’s Actual Justice Warrior’s response to the video

Shame, since Knowing Better shat on Adam Ruins Everything with that Columbus Video
To top if off something is off with how he presents himself. I first watched him with the sound off and his expression and body language were throwing up red flags.

Got recommended this, vaguely interested me (with an eyeroll or 10 during the gay caveman explanation) until the Cheddar Man bit:

No, that's not right at all in the slightest you fucking dipshit. Call yourself an archaeologist, do you?

I'm not of your background yet even I know there is minimal evidence to suggest Cheddar Man being black was anything other than a political play.
Video's full of other holes and is typical of this dipper fursona's biases. The gay caveman bit is just as inaccurate if not more, and is following a similar trend in the gender war bs invasion of science.

As far as these channels hold a high standard, I think it's worth noting that channels like VSauce and Veritasium have been sponsored by Bill Gates, with Veritasium doing a full interview with Billy G himself, which puts their authority in question. The Bill Gates Foundation has it's own agenda to fulfill, and by being sponsored by them you definitely agree to say certain things that you wouldn't say otherwise, as is the case with any form of sponsorship.

Bobby is usually a producer of pretty quality content, but this one feels stretched to the limit, and from what I've watched of it pushes only the ban side of the narrative, and not really for good reason like the image's quality.
When it came to the interviews with clearly farther left women only, which followed up him talking about women not saying negative things about the Lena image in the past because they didn't want to "rock the boat" of the predominantly male scientific community, I gave up.

Bobby was better when he reviewed licensed games
I didn't even realize he used to do that. The last video game related video he made was one about the 3ds's controversial launch, and it was more about the technology in it and it's history than any games. He completely shifted into popsci historical stuff after that, and based on something he said and showed in the video above, went on to pursue a degree in some material engineering science. Sadly, the college rot went on to affect him.

So hes doing videos on science that hes not actually an expert in the field in? Many such cases. Especially ironic as he criticized Bill Nye’s show when it came out and he’s doing the exact same thingg

This image, whether you want to admit it or not, is a piece of computing history. You do not get to decide or arbitrate whether or not it is one because of what some old harpies think. You do not "decide" or gatekeep your perfect chronology of computing by kicking out individuals like Markus Persson or Nolan Bushnell because they said some things you don't like.

It is up there with Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" and Sutherland's Volkswagen in terms of important, landmark objects used to make massive achievements within the field of computing, and it's obvious to see why Lenna was chosen, other than being the spank mag the technicians had on hand at the time:
  • A familiar, pleasing form (i.e. a beautiful human face)
  • Dynamic colour range and shading
  • "Realistic" or idealised setting (i.e. not against a blank studio wall or similar location)
Without her photograph, digital imagery could have evolved in a radically different manner, and it should never be forgotten. Even if the old bitch herself says she's "retired".
