Pope Francis tells gay man ‘God made you like this and loves you like this’ - OR: - Is this what you tell the pedophile priests when they get caught too?

"The remarks were made to a victim of clerical sexual abuse and are the most striking acceptance of homosexuality by the Catholic Church to date

In a private dialogue, the Pontiff is understood to have told Juan Carlos Cruz, a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Catholic priests, that God loves gay people and it is fine to be homosexual.

Juan Carlos Cruz is a key whistleblower in Chile's most famous case of clerical sex abuse

The comments are the most striking public acceptance about homosexuality ever made by a head of the Roman Catholic Church.

The remarks were made during a private meeting at the Vatican between the pair, in which the Pope offered a heartfelt apology.

Cruz was a victim of Chile’s most notorious paedophile priest Fernando Karadima.

Father Karadima, now aged 87, was found guilty of sexual abuse by the Vatican in 2011.

Cruz claims that his suffering was ignored by a number of Latin American bishops who used his homosexuality to brand him a liar when he spoke out.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper El País, Cruz said: “He [the Pope] told me, ‘Juan Carlos, that you are gay does not matter.

“God made you like this and loves you like this and I don’t care.

“The pope loves you like this. You have to be happy with who you are.”

The Pope’s words signal a much more open and inclusive approach by the often restrictive faith – a move which will likely upset many conservative Catholics.

The Vatican has neither confirmed nor denied the comments the Pontiff’s comments to Cruz.

The Catholic Church teaches that gay sex – and all sex outside of heterosexual marriage – is a sin.

This is not the first time Pope Francis’ comments have suggested a more open and tolerant attitude toward homosexuality.

In July 2013, when responding to a reporter’s question about the existence of an alleged “gay lobby” within the Vatican, Pope Francis said: “If a person is gay and seeks God and has good will, who am I to judge?"

The Pontiff’s most recent remarks come as several high profile members of the clergy have sought to publicly make amends with gay Catholics, many of whom say they feel shunned an d unwelcome in the church.

Juan Carlos Cruz was one of three former sex abuse victims from Chile who were summoned to Rome to receive an apology from the Pontiff for years of abuse endured by them as children.

The victims described clerical sexual abuse as “an epidemic that has destroyed thousands of lives.”"

This guy... this freaking guy.... Assuming this is 100% legit, this is going to cause hell.

With all this virtuesignalling I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a Gilles de Rais level serial killer.

There are reports that the Pope is actually a Satanist and that the Vatican is in the hands of a Luciferian Cabal which seized it post- Vatican II. Oh, but that's silly, conspiracy-theory talk. Just look at the Pope's audience hall, which was built right after Vatican II began...

Religion doesn't just exist to keep you from having fun and sticking your dick into random things, it's here to answer some pretty big questions about how we should arrange our ethics. People who want to destroy religion-based systems of ethics and replace them with super-efficient, secular scientific systems of ethics often find themselves falling into the same traps as theocracies do - sooner or later, some hairless ape is going to figure out how to game the new system and use it to his/her/their advantage. You could argue that Social Justice Warriorism is just Christianity that has been stripped of religious mysticism and repurposed to bring about some sort of equalist paradise here on earth - to create a god-machine State that takes care of everybody mentally and physically, and distributes resources to the most "deserving".

TL;DR: Religion is never going away. It will still exist even if you kick out God and the Supernatural and try to replace it with a "scientific" system of ethics. (Because most systems of ethics require a metaphysical framework to exist, and a framework based on non-objectivism will collapse into a muddled mess before long...)

Does religion really answer these big questions though? Do the ethical systems proposed by religion not also have a track record of being easily gamed to the advantage of the unscrupulous? I would agree that religion attempts to provide answers, but I would usually disagree that it provides satisfactory ones. You only have to look at societies where religion plays a dominant role in people's lives to see that these societies are generally far less functional than societies where religion is more peripheral, and this is true not only today, but also when you compare present-day societies to their historical counterparts.

I wouldn't be so fatalistic as to say that religion is never going to go away either. The ideological structure of human societies have shifted radically more than once throughout our history, and arguably some of these shifts have been much more significant than a theoretical shift between religion and irreligion (take the shift from hunter-gatherer society to settlement-based society for instance, or the more recent transition from feudalism-based monarchy to capitalism-based democracy).

I would agree that dogmatic thinking and bias towards conventional wisdom is clearly the path of least resistance when contrasted with skepticism and philosophical deliberation, but I can't say I'm convinced that effective education couldn't tip the scales towards the latter. It clearly has to a large extent already; just look at practically every country in the developed world.

Shouldn't we have grown out of the ridiculous belief that all people are equal and all human beings, regardless of evolutionary history and genetics, have equal intelligence and equal ability to maintain a high level of civilization? That all human beings, regardless of IQ and life experience, should have an equal say in how our society is run? That all cultures are equally valid, with no objective standard for determining morality? We're only put here on earth to reproduce - if we cheat the system and commit "unethical" acts to facilitate that and aren't caught, could anyone say what we did was wrong? (Especially if Nature allows for a few free riders and cheaters to game the system?)

I have no idea what this is supposed to be in reference to.

@PantsFreeZone
Have you ever eaten a lobster, shrimp, or clam? How about had sex with a non-virgin girl and failed to properly stone her for her whorishness? Or- God forbid it- wear polyesters? For that matter, do you believe the Earth is 7,000 years old and was subject to a total global flood, and that there were giants?
The Catholic church has held by the stance that the Bible, while holy, was filtered through men and has genres of work in it: some parts are allegory, some parts are rules for a specific people during a specific time, and acting like the Bible arose from the dust fully-formed and perfectly and eternally inerrant is foolish.

So solar panels and the Harrowing of Hell are Satanic? Real hot take there amigo.

I'm pretty sure even Jews themselves (the 613 includes deut and lev) don't expect gentiles to follow the bulk of their laws, just the few important ones that everyone does anyway; actually, in some ways the Jews are more lax about it. You can still wheedle a 'no homo' interpretation out of some ambiguous new testament passages, but the Laws only go as far as stomping out incest and adultery.
edit:

It's implied heavily that the men were all violent rapists and outright demonstrated they were bisexual and open to banging anyone they could get their hands on, I think that was a bit more important than the bit about buttfucking.

Also, weren't these people breaking the concept of Sacred Hospitality? Where, you know, you have to treat your guests well or [insert: God, Zeus, Jupiter, etc.] would get REALLY PISSED OFF at you for being a selfish asshole? It was less about "LOL PERVERT GAYS" and more about "ugh, I sent you these two guys to talk to you and you wanna rape them? Fuck off."

IIRC the only person who got away with breaking it off in the Bible was a general's wife named Jael and that's because the guest she killed, Sisera, was a dangerous general from another army and he would've surely raped and killed her had she not killed him first. The angels almost got raped and murdered by a mob of idiots who should've known better, so off the perverts went.

Then what was the point of Leviticus 20:13? "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." I thought a major part of Christianity is that the bible is the infallible word of God, and that verse seems pretty clear in its meaning.
Except for the parts about porn, and premarital sex that’s open for interpretation.

Jorge Bergoglio's name will be written on the ground, and he shall be forgotten. I do not care about the moronic affairs of an archnigger. He is not the Roman Pontiff, and we have better things to do with our time than discuss the heresy and blasphemy of niggers.
HE HAS SPOKEN
