Should we have a fish hook rating?

That's a good idea but it'd be hard to execute. Just making the icons smaller or larger wouldn't really do much. I'll think about it.
Maybe it could be a banner at the top of the post before any of the text. If this rating gets implemented, I think that verified affiliates of lolcows should have access to it to, Golden Knight's ex for example. This could be useful in that thread in particular if somebody brings up important info from before that turns out to be true.

As mixed as my opinion was to these ratings at first, I have to say, I like how they're turning out and I think it was a welcome change. I've noticed you have even taken action against people who have abused it. In the end, I have to say, thanks for adding this feature and continuing to improve it, Null.

How do I vote? I don't see any buttons or links for that. Is it because I only recently registered?

Yeah, there's a small threshold that you can reach by just posting casually for about a week. It basically just keeps people that shitpost from getting into the off-topic.

I've applied some changes.

Creative, Friendly and Funny was merged into Like.
Useful was merged into Informative.
The heart has been recycled as "Feels".

Also, as an experiment and in the honor of the forums' collective favorite past-time, supports+staff can give off-topic posts a "DRINK" rating.

so do bad ratings not show up in alerts? i'm not seeing them in my alert history

if so, that strikes me as kinda dumb. if i post something stupid and everyone rates it down, i would kind of like know when i'm being a bigger assface than usual.

Now while I do think having both Usefull and Informative is redundant, I do feel we need both Creative and Funny, or at the very least just funny.

Say somebody posts a very slightly off-topic blurb or a funny one-liner, ala the most liked post of Catparty "Chris is Retarded, it is funny and true! Think about it" when he (she?) was imitating Chris's facebook post. Thats not necessarily a post I like, but I do find it funny. Have ratings been implemented at the time, I would have rated it funny.

As for Creative, if one puts alot of work into a fanart or posts a theory on something that is a bit stupid but has a few intresting points, I would like to acknowledge that via a rating. That one photoshop of Jace and Tyce at Mecca, close enough to look like they are making out? I only have a few options here. Like if I like it, or Autistic if I think its clever (as a crude way of saying Artistic)

Still, dispite my biggest fears, the ratings are a success and I am glad you implemented them.

Literally every person has told me a different assembly of icons to keep and get rid of. This is not an extension of the truth. No two people have told me the same number or types of ratings that they want to see. I had to step back and just cut out the ones I personally didn't feel were necessary.

The obvious compromise is to just keep adding buttons so no one feels left out.

Aside from Usefull (which was redundant with Informative) I really didnt feel as if we had too many rating that we needed to cut some. Adding ones would be anouther matter, but not cutting ones that looked useful

Still, just my two cents in the pool.

I feel like "funny" was definitely useful enough to keep around, and advocate it being brought back (I can think something is funny without liking or agreeing with it; eg. a couple minutes ago I read a post about Zoe Quinn being ugly, and I thought it was pulled off well for humor, but I don't personally agree she's that ugly, nor do I like the idea of calling someone ugly just for the sake of calling them ugly), but for now I'm using "winner" in its place.

But that aside, I have a suggestion/question. Would it be possible for posts that are ranked "informative" a certain number of times to additionally have the informative icon added to the message header or something? At least in some forums? I think it would be really useful for when, say, you're skimming a really active thread in Discussion and want to be able to spot posts that offer significant updates/content among all the banter.

It literally does exactly that

Can you draw a picture of what you want?
I edited the post to be a little clearer while you were responding, but if you still need a graphic for further clarification I can do that when I get home. Out with the family rn.
