"Post your Art" Thread

So I'm high and unable to sleep, I just start sketching and tell myself if I'm staying up I'm going to stay productive. 6-7 hours later, I finish this thing.

That Hair-fire looks so cool, how did you draw it?

It was just tons and tons of blending to make identifiable waves in the flames. I already had the line art before I did it so I worked around that as a limitation.

So, I finished a sculpture today. It was a surrealistic project, and I found inspiration in Alt-J's "Hunger of the Pine" in making it.

Fitting the theme of the character of mine that I'd also based it on, I may call it either "Envy" or "Pain" when the time comes to put it in the local art show.

Still wishing I had an iridescent black glaze to make it look like oil, but I unfortunately didn't have it. The black iris glaze was still fairly nice and matched the arrow a bit. It looks a little less dull in person.

Since this doodle's pose came out looking "sassy" to me, I decided to complete it by making it an Egyptian lady snapping her fingers in the middle of some conversation. Snapping fingers has been documented as a form of making music in ancient Egypt, though I wanted to channel an old trend in African-American culture for women to snap their fingers for various reasons. What can I say, I like mixing Egyptian and African-American cultural influences.

This guy is a legatus/legate, or army general, for the Roman legions. I set out wanting to make him resemble Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but the resemblance didn't last as the drawing and inking progressed. Still think he looks pretty badass though.

This is my "reimagining" of the Egyptian goddess Aset/Isis as she was portrayed in concept art for the game Age of Mythology. This mythologically-themed spin-off from Age of Empires has to be over a decade old as of this typing, but it's been modified and re-released on Steam and even has a fan-made expansion pack (Tale of the Dragon) out now. With expansion packs included, the civilizations you can play in Age of Mythology are the Greeks, Norse, Egyptians, Atlanteans (made up, I know, and a lame addition in my humble opinion) and now Chinese.

I'm tempted to make more arts like this for the other Egyptian gods and then mod them into the game myself.

I drew some anubian bandits today, they're no one significant like Monochromatia...but they're still the same species.

Males are more brawny and have weaker psychic power while females are the opposite. They cover their third eyes to hold back on any psychic energy leaking out.

Also with their planet being 80% desert, the majority of them, male and female, don't wear shirts. Monochromatia lives in a slightly colder region, thus the heavier clothing.

Jungle babes in bikinis fighting raptors is a classic artistic theme, so of course I had to take my shot at it sooner or later.

Seriously, this setup (and my love for the whole concept of dinosaur-hunting jungle girls in general) owes much inspiration to comic book artist Frank Cho, who draws this sort of stuff all the time and has even published it in several books (he's particularly famous for his work on Shanna the She-Devil). It was time I had to pay homage to what must be his favorite theme.

I post a lot in here, hope that's not bothersome.

But here are two sketches done today as a warmup and also to get a grip on the faces of two of my characters, Tildre and Wyrdell Ikteri.

They're not the same species as Neerah, but come from the same planet/realm. Tildre is called the High Queen in their culture, Wyrdell being the Low King. High Queens/Kings are the main rulers, taking on public appearances and civil issues. Low Kings/Queens are typically siblings of the former ruling class, and work behind the scenes. Tildre and Wyrdell's classes would be reversed if not for Wyrdell's crippling anxiety.
