Only thing I would say is avoid black for all your outlines... Pick a few colors close to darker what you are coloring and go with it... like this (sorry butchered it to 8bit just to fill quickly) but an example..

There's nothing wrong with using black, but for lighter stuff like yours it is jarring. Black outlines need black shading, look at the character sprites for Streetfighter Alpha 3 etc for a better example of just using darker tones of the same colour as outline, but for proper black heavy stuff, think about shadow and depth and go all in with big black spaces. Hope this helps...
