Since the art style is more simplistic, should I focus on the shape instead of defining the muscles? I'm not good a simplifying things.
When doing a simplified style, the main thing to focus on is defining important details while omitting everything else.
For example, here's Bolo from Shantae.

The character is supposed to be somewhat athletic and good with swinging weapons but not much else. He has pretty large deltoids but is otherwise smooth, which indicates that he's good at swinging but weak in general.

Another good example is Bruce Timm, who is the absolute master of simplifying anatomy. He's able to make characters nearly completely smooth while still keeping them recognizably muscular.

But even he defines muscles when he has to.

In this drawing, to indicate how absolutely swole Lobo is, he defined the three heads of the deltoid, the bicep and tricep, and the outline of the external oblique.

To make your character look more like an MMA fighter, I'd recommend emphasizing muscles that are associated with fighters. Pro fighters tend to have very large deltoids which allow them to swing their arms with a lot of power. They also have well developed lateral torso muscles, like the serratus (which pulls the shoulder blades forward) and obliques (which swivels the upper body), lending their punches even more power. So I'd suggest focusing on those muscles and leaving everything else smooth.

WIP and a completed art for next set. Named her Rozéline Eau Laufette or just Rosewater because I am a dumb nigger. Kind of simplifying roses a bit too much.

I can never figure out that signature.

UGH, I fucking hate 3D modeling software. For those wondering I am being taught Maya. And I am so terrible at using it that I have permenantly deleted elements of my heads up display by accident. *sobs* If there was a way to make 3D modeling easier for a dumbass like me I would take it in a heartbeat. Maybe you guys think I am retarded and you are probably right, I only ever really wanted to do 2D comics or animation, GET ME AWAY FROM 3D SOFTWARE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

Autodesk 3DS Max, Zbrush, Blender.

Autodesk 3DS Max, Zbrush, Blender.
My teacher does not recommend Blender for some reason, stating that Maya is still industry standard and that Blender was only really good for rendering. He also told me that if I found Maya difficult to use, I would not be able to handle Blender shortcuts.

So either it's inductry pro cope or genuine advice that I do not understand because I am retarded

Try Blender anyway; it can't hurt. It's generally considered to be quite decent at many things, with the occasional patch of low mediocrity. Overall, it gets the job done. You don't need to care about "industry standard" bullshit if you're making things for fun on your own terms, and even then Blender gets some professional use AFAIK. The UI used to be shitty, but it is now much better since the 2.8 update that was released several years ago.

TL;DR totally industry pro cope switch to blender NOW

(disclaimer: I have next to no clue what the fuck I'm talking about, I've never used Maya. I have used Blender some.)

Autodesk buys popular software and shoehorns them into Maya. So Maya is basically a bunch of disparate modular software Frankensteined into a single program, which means that it's a buggy, clunky disorganized mess. Unfortunately it's still the industry standard, and is required knowledge if you want to work in a professional production pipeline. My brother, who's a professional 3D modeler and animator, told me that Blender is making some inroads into the mainstream industry, but it still has a while to go.

Literally my senior complained to me that Adobe is a shoehorned "standard". And my teachers and alumni told me it's literally ok to crack the fucking softwares. Unbelievable how cucked professional art industries are these days

Don't worry I will pick that up some day I've seen this guy called Brad Sculpts or something where he makes 2D art inti a 3D model on Blender and it looks fucking amazing. I want to do something like that one day...
