Looks like I caught a krab around the corner.

I was working on a track and a breakup; I decided to paint for the first time in like a decade.

Pray for me as I embark on a third attempt to layer white pigment in such a manner that it looks like an actual highlight instead of an opaque white mystery fluid.

Trick or treat!

I think i've plateaued in terms of black and white drawings so i wanted to step out of my comfort zone and try to force myself into doing colors.
It sucks major dick and i hate it.

If I can give you some tips on the color, it looks like you're using normal marker, maybe an alcohol ink marker, and so every single line you lay down is both permanent and time sensitive.
If you switch to watercolors or soluble ink pigments you'll find it's a lot better when you can literally move pigment around and shade. Like if colored pencils didn't suck dick and behaved like graphite.

Not that I'm beyond deviant art tier at this shit but this was my first attempt at a gradient and it was done with a single color and a single dip of the brush in about 15 seconds.

If you want to persist with alcohol inks you may want to try mixing your own pigments and brushing them on. Those markers dry almost immediately but as long as you keep the medium wet you should be able to get a nice, flat, consistent color without, what appears to be, extremely tedious hatching.
