I draw a little myself, but I don't really consider myself an artist because what I mainly do are sketches (I'd wish to do things digitally). This one's the most recent, and it's a practice of drawing a profile, since charm's shit when it comes to profiles.

Admittedly I have been in a rut with my drawing the past couple of months, some sort of light has turned off.

Right now I am studying more effects with Illustrator, here are some of my backgrounds.

I'm not gonna share any of my serious art here, so instead I'll share the silly doodles I tend to do here and there. This is one I decided to do in like 5 minutes. It's Freddie Mercury in a sombrero.

Some stuff I did for the draw another user thread before I remembered how shit I am at drawing.

I want to eventually try my hand at digital art, but as far as I've gone into digital is digital photography. Anyone have any recommendations for a good free program? I do studio art & sketches, but I should probably get more experience with digital.

Paint.net is free (I think) but I don't like it much. SAI isn't supposed to be free but there's pirated cracks all over the place, not hard to get. CLIPStudio is my favourite, it's not free but it's cheap (£30 for me, maybe $40ish?) and they do sales quite often, and it has a free trial too.

krita, as mentioned, is a pretty good free art program. paint tool sai is really beginner friendly(particularly if you have a tablet) and the free downloads are available literally everywhere, it's definitely the easiest "paid" art program to find for free.
firealpaca is also a good program, it has a built in line stabilizer that actually works with the mouse. since i have a tablet i just use the stabilizer in sai but ive heard good things about firealpaca's stabilizer.

it's also not uncommon for digital artists to use more than one program. since sai doesn't support transparent pngs, i save the file as a psd and use firealpaca to export the file as a png so it can have a transparent background. with time and experimentation you should be able to find the art program(s) that work best for you and what you want to make.
