Saturn dancing with Chrysalis for the last time.

Not sure if I quite like how this one turned out.

I read that the rings of Saturn were probably created from the destruction of the hypothetical moon "Chrysalis", named after the cocoons that larvae encase themselves in before becoming butterflies.

I thought of the idea of applying this to the god Saturn, with his wings the rings of the planet. Like he gained some of his godly power through a tragic sacrifice, maybe of a previous lover, a mortal or another god. I don't know enough about Roman mythology to know if there already is a story like this but with different characters.
I realize how fanfiction-y my idea sounds but I also realize that's pretty much how all mythologies work in the first place.

Ive had the XP Pen Magic Drawing Pad, I personally am going to advise that you not get it. It's got an EMR sensor in it's panel. The problem with those are they're heavily grid based. Which causes your diagonal strokes to stairstep. I know I'm not super technical in my art but it fucking pissed me off bad. XP pens own illustration is literally accurate to how it works.

I 've had 3 devices that had this exact method of tracking and they all did it. One was the lenovo yoga 2 in 1 laptop, and one was literally this device, and a legion y700 tablet. Apple has it's own propriety fork of this tracking method but they for whatever reason have better smoothing algorithms.

Another factor to consider is google is not a fan of chinese tablets. They block a lot of apps from the play store on tablets they don't approve of/chinese devices, which forces you dig for pirated APKs or accept that its not available for the device.

Hate to get consoomer but for this price on an android tablet, especially if your primary fixation is art. I personally am going to recommend you get an renewed samsung s7+ tablet refurb off amazon. They're only running like 300. It uses Wacoms vastly higher fidelity AES pen system. and it comes with a pen. the pens tilt sensitive too.

It's literally the best price/performace balance I've found for android art, I use it regularly.

If you don't mind apple though, and their prices. They might also be worth it for procreate.
That explains why I hate my XP-Pen Deco Pro. Definitely experienced this same shit and just go back to drawing with a mouse as always.

Maybe wrong Thread for this but how do I learn to make the poses not retarded?
Anatomy books and an artist's manikin for reference - just something that holds poses that you can play around with and look at from different angles. You can get something that works from Blick or wherever, the inexpensive foot tall ones are $7-ish in the US.

Then it's just practice.

I'd say that before going straight into anatomical studies, you should spend some time learning how to represent shapes and and volumes in a piece of paper; i believe draw a box has nice tutorials regarding those topics. Once you learn how to communicate how volumes behave in a 2d medium, then you can study anatomy and the specific volumes that make up a body. I've met a lot of artists with somewhat good anatomical knowledge whose drawings were absolutely flat because of not knowing how to represent volume.

This kind of excercises are worth doing once in a while:
