Looking at that page just gave me a wave of nostalgia. The style really takes me back to the indie ashcan comics of the 90s.Starting a comic

He does seem to fit into lore of one of my things tho. At least visually and if you'll replace cross with something else.Here's character I was working on over the past few months. I haven't really drawn much because I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what I want to actually spend time on for a bigger project.
I probably won't do anything more with this guy as he doesn't fit with what I want to do in the future, so for now I'll just leave him here:

Finally had some time to do more work on this and now I'm kind of amazed how bad the first looks in comparison. In the end I went about this in a sort of dumb way- on top of those initial pastels I used acrylic paint and then did some extra finishing details with...oil pastels.Oil pastel study of a hilariously over-the-top page from the comic Melting Pot- This was just a "fuck it, let's mess around in an afternoon" piece so its very rough. I kind of want to go back in with acrylic paint and make it better once I have more Fuck-Around time. There's a lot that's proportionally off from the original. So this might be a Part 1!
