@I AM RETARDED!
I quickly sketched the image and highlighted in red important spots to focus on. This is not universal. They usually vary depending on the source. Finding what’s unique about the face you want to draw is crucial. And finding what’s not is important too. For example when I look at this girl particularly, I notice the dominant arch of her brow, the curving of her full lips, the shape of her eyelids and the shape of her hairline. But the nose is quite unremarkable and can be omitted without loosing the likeness.
When you want to capture someone’s likeness, you really just have to take a good look at their dominant features.
Side note - the position of their pupils is important.

it was twitter and fandom culture all along, always forcing myself into "finding my niche" and doing whatever is trendy right now to get likes from gay perverts online*sigh*
Genuinely my experience as an artist too!
If you compare my art now with my art from, say, two years ago, it's almost certain that the latter would get much more approval on social media for looking a certain way. My art now looks plain by comparison, but I don't really care! I'm making it for myself instead of xitter faggots, I'm unlearning a lot of 'techniques' I used to cling to for the sake of making my art look flashy, and I'm slowly building my understanding of key stuff like form and composition in ways that I find enjoyable. Obviously it's different for everyone, and you already have a great understanding of fundamentals from the looks of it, but focusing on the process over the product has been really enjoyable for me personally :)

anyway heres a low effort doodle of slobbermutt and a kiwi for relevance lmao

For some reason, I’d decide to make a redesign of one of the characters from marathon 1777167706441.png

But I would definitely recommend trying to draw some old or even 'ugly' people.
This so much. For a while i've been going for pretty women and handsome men and it got boring pretty quickly. It was when i started drawing ugly people that things got interesting because ugly faces are very interesting and fun to draw. Exaggerated features, facial imbalace, odd shapes... All of it is amazing. Old people are really great in order to understand expression since the wrinkles serve as a great guide to know how the face muscles move when you smile or get pissed. I highly recommend you look at pictures of unsighly racial minorities or politicians and you try drawing them. You won't worry as much about the mistakes because everything is really weird looking.

Here are some that i made.

That’s a pretty common train of thought for an artist I think. Try to find an honest answer to these questions:
- why am I even making art?
- for who am I doing this?
- what do I enjoy about making art the most?
- do I want to do this for a living?
- how important is others opinions on my art to me?
- what do I really want to draw vs. what I think I have to draw?
The goal is to set your expectations. If the online fandom irks you, because you feel like you modified your art to suit it, just ask yourself if it’s worth it. Sometimes it isn’t sometimes, it is. You can draw for fandoms for the exposure and do your own projects on the side. Or maybe you are burnt out and you need a pause or a change. In the end, it all depends on you.
Creating a portfolio is a good idea. But don’t wait for finishing the uni, start now. Good luck!
I second all of this. While i'm a retard and started drawing very late i think that doing things for yourself and having your own projects more or less planned is important. Catering to online retards will only get you so far and while the clout is nice you won't amount as much more than "furry artist that takes commissions" and if you have any self respect you will not want to do that. Plus, Fandoms today are filled with loads of retards.

Get your ball rolling and do studies to iron down your style. If you have ideas or a project start working on it, one step at a time. If you want to take a break for your usual works, do it and not lose practise. If possible, use them to keep up. And probably the most important is to not wait for the right moment to start or for inspiration to strike. The key is consistency. Draw every day, even a little. If you don't have time, practise 1 minute drawings. If you can, try to be complex or slowly get out of your comfort zone. Go for it. Slow and steady.

It is also important to note if you want to go for realistic or you want to keep your drawings stylized.
If you go for the second you should do as above but trying to exaggerate said notable features. It is also important to know if you want to give your characters a masculine or feminine vibe since there are a lot of things you can work with in order to make a character one or the other. Round face, thick neck, bigger eyes, strong cheekbones, thick eyebrows... Beyond the body features (which tend to be the more defining), you can play a lot with the face. Even more if you want to make a character give off an evil or good vibe.

Today i went on to practise because i'm getting paranoid over my proportions when i draw women. Specially on 3/4 view.
These two are the basic physique for two of my characters. I honestly think i did the bodies too small but maybe it's my lizard brain playing tricks on me

Damn, really liking the tactical wizard. I think the problem is mainly with the legs and how the perspective is laid out. It would make more sense for the rifle to lay on top of the knee and make his leg a bit longer.

Also, the knight looks really great. You did great work on those pieces of armor but perhaps you should make the suit to appear a bit bulkier, specially on the hands if you're getting him gauntlets.

i ve been playing tactical wizard breech and got infected with the idea
and i guess you are right i need to change the pose on the wizard
knight is really here right to comprehend the composition, he is too far from the door but if i place him closer he will cover too much of the witch
Does anybody know a good source to get reference images? Like for stuff like armor, clothing, weapons, everyday items, vehicles etc something which has a bit of everything so I don't have to look up different things on different places.
yesterday i was shared a little bit of a lifehack that is quite bordering on haram in the art world
go to bing image creator describe what you want to to draw, for example "a cadillac car"
then ignore the image that it will give you and go to the references that it used and it will you a good number of pictures that can be used as a reference
