"Post your Art" Thread

I'm stuck on the painting I've got going on, I'd like to finish it on Christmas but I'm not sure how to tackle it. The tiger I'd say is done and I don't want to change anything in the sky lest I fuck it up again, but the foliage is very unfinished. I think I need to go back into the shadows and work my way up from there. I want it to be less detailed than say, the tiger, but without being totally undefined shapes.

Closeup on the tiger!

Sketched up a generic 70's-esque truck-like vehicle to put in the background of a larger work. It isn't an actual make/model from the time period but due to my massive automotive hobby/history autism, I found myself coming up with a convincing fictitious history for it as I drew... as if it were a picture from an actual 70's auto history book about a forgotten "Dover' marque of truck.

Commission. The client was amazingly patient. This took 80+ hours over 4 months, struggled a lot, overcame a lot. Really happy with it.

personal work between commissions, major improvement right off the heels of the previous work.

I like it a lot except the hideous characters but I guess you don't get much of a say with that kind of thing when people pay you. Fox guy looks neat.

Your technical ability is good, but your clients seem to be suspiciously wealthy furries.

A question that i've been mulling over for quite a while. Which is better: Oil baised or wax based?
So far i've been using wax based and they are pretty good to blend with other colors and to blur with q-tips, but i've never tried oil based.
I'll have to do more experimentation with the oil pencils, but there is a little bit if a different feel. I bet that you could use a little bit of paint thinner to blend them just like oil pastels, so I'm looking forward to trying that. I have a piece I'm planning to do with my wax pencils too so that way I'll be able to compare them a bit better.

Tiger is finished!! I only made a few changes to the background. I asked some of my IRL friends about it and the general consensus is that the sky is great, which is perfect because I didn't want to do any edits to it anyway.

Heck, man, the light effects on the leaves really helped to convey what they are made out of. Nice, strong, glossy leaves ^^
The tiger clearly is the center piece though and does deserve the attention too. While its expression reminds me of a domestic cat the teeth and strong stature urge you to remember its wild nature, only being gentle for the moment, in the calm of the night. I love it <3

I wish I'd be able to paint like that some day. For now I'm just studying nude models and faces though. Since about three weeks, every day, to get a better understanding of anatomy. This is from today and took me about 2 hours, which is odd since I tend to average between three and four hours usually:

Just don't look at the hair :>

Damn, those are really good. I particularly like the first one, mainly because of the hair details which make it look gorgeous.
I also know what you mean about doing it faster than usual. But don't stress too much over it. The more practise you have, the faster you will do it since once you pick up the pace, you have all the momentum you need to get your drawings going. As well, it's also a matter of confidence in your own strokes, so keep up the practise.

Also, if you plan on drawing from imagination i recommend that once you get a good hold on proportions and anatomy, you begin drawing from muscle charts, since it will help you get a better understanding of the details in the body depending on the physique.

Aaaaah, thank you so much! :D

It was actually worrying me, if I didn't put in as much as usual, so reading that today was nice. I'll keep at it and try to worry less about the tempo. Thank you for the motivation and the good advice! I use to look at muscle references whenever I don't fully understand something, though I do it less since drawing more from real life. I'm excited to see what difference it'll make eventually :>

Yesss, this is exactly what I was going for, you've described what I was thinking with the piece perfectly!

Was taking it easy over Christmas Break and new years, but literally couldn't hold myself back any longer, just did a couple 15 minute rough sketches.

Character concept brought about by thinking of a child who just has a gun with her wherever she goes. Her outfit is too generic, i'll be keeping the targeting reticle and crosshair hairpin and switching out the rest, most likely.

And this other one

Esperia Frostwhisper, lots of mistakes on this one that i would fix if i turned it into a full render, for sure.
