The door of the coffin did slowly open
And a chilling voice let it be spoken
‘Arise, arise, from your slumber
The light of the moon has ended your sleep
Even though it was oh so deep
Death’s hand will you no longer cumber’
The boy’s eyes opened and flittered
His revived sight faded and flickered
‘Why have you brought me back to this world?
I rested in peace without her in mind
The eternal darkness was to me kind’
The returned one’s words were, frankly, absurd
‘You’d rather lie and let the worms feast
On that which now is no-longer deceased
Than to face a new day of life?’
A sneer took form on the dark blue lips
‘What’s a new day ‘neath a solar eclipse?
My sole heart’s been pierced by a venomous knife’
The awakener, now highly confused
Wondered if this was some ruse
Who would speak such words of distress?
Creaks were heard as the door was shut
Mended strings were once again cut
‘What knife do you speak of? Do confess!’
Bathed in darkness and chilled to the bone
The living dead boy felt completely alone
‘I gave her my soul and all of my light’
The creature sobbed and started to cry
‘She took all my fire and burned down the sky
And so I plunged into eternal night’
‘My wings have been torn, I belong in the ground’
His quivering voice such a haunting sound
‘Dreams of her are but agony’
And so the living returned to the dead
The resurrector shook his head
‘I pray that in death you’ll once more fly free
And that closed eyes can help you see
You can only live as you choose to be’
