Powerful earthquake rocks Myanmar and Thailand and kills more than 150 people - Talk about a 9/11 style collapse

BANGKOK (AP) — A powerful earthquake rocked Myanmar and neighboring Thailand on Friday, destroying buildings, a bridge and a dam. At least 144 people were killed in Myanmar, where photos and video from two hard-hit cities showed extensive damage. At least eight died in the Thai capital, where a high-rise under construction collapsed.

The 7.7 magnitude quake, with an epicenter near Mandalay, Myanmar ‘s second largest city, struck at midday and was followed by a strong 6.4 magnitude aftershock.

The full extent of death, injury and destruction was not immediately clear — particularly in Myanmar, one of the world’s poorest countries. It is embroiled in a civil war and information is tightly controlled.

I saw this today. According to the video, it is the first recorded instance of a fault moving on video.
That is really cool. I knew the land just shifts/grinds along the fault, but holy hell, while that may not look like much, that is absolutely devastating to the face of the land, not just for infrastructure and everything else built on top of it. Literally can just slip right through the crack there if you're unlucky enough to get caught in the path.

Honestly hope we can get more footage of something like this in the future, morbid as that sounds.

That happened last year in Iceland from the ongoing magma intrusion. They couldn't find him.

Oh holy shit
I had to watch it three times to actually see it because I was looking at the cracks in the foreground, somehow it made my stomach hurt. Nauseating.
Same here, I didn't see the fault move until I watched it on YouTube. Amazing and terrifying at the same time.
