Physical fitness is a seriously neglected part of survival preparedness. As the meme goes, if you invest all your money into high end guns, armor, mres, etc... and zero into basic physical fitness, you're just a walking loot drop.

Now my question is, how do other kiwis maintain their bodies? Especially if you have a physical disability or medical condition? I have chronic back pain myself and although I can still ruck 12 miles if needed, it'll definitely be uncomfortable for a week. I like to do a balanced workout plan that incorporates strength, cardio, endurance, and agility all in the same day.

For instance, every morning I do calisthenics followed by a short run (100 of Push-ups, flutter kicks, variant push-ups, squats, and modified pullups; around 2 miles running). In the evening, I do my gym workout consisting of 3 sets of strength lifts, an endurance circuit, and then more cardio. Cardio is also varied, from combatives to bike rides, to stairs, and functional training.

I run 3-5 miles on off days depending on mood and how I feel from work. I ruck 5 miles Sundays with 50lbs (sprints after). I lift every other day (strides afterwards with push ups and crunches). Warm ups every day are burpees, jumping jacks, and kettlebell swings. I might switch up lifting on bars and dumbbells and just do a kettlebell day or sandbag day with a focus on HIIT to keep it fresh.

For general mobility, this was my favorite way to train. It made my body feel good. The channel is Hybrid Calisthenics and it's a lot of bodyweight stuff with progressive overload. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkU6Ok44_CI

I am currently lacking in cardio.

I do rock climbing in the gym or outdoors once a week, and it's pretty dang chill. A good way to make friends too, what with belaying being like a trust fall (pick competent belayers or they might drop ya).
