It would make sense that Rocky works at a liberal, touchy feel "live and let live" church, that is OK with homosexuals, pre marital sex, and perhaps the idea that everybody goes to heaven. Only a touchy feely church such as that would be willing to put up and tolerate Chris for as long as they have. ( It also helps she used to teach special ed.. I checked her bio on the church website.)

Funnily enough, the church is one of the few positive resources in CWC's life, and the only reason why I dont believe the wilderness saga will actually happen..

Marvin, I know it was ages ago, but do you remember if Chris dressed up for church or wore his clown suits back then?
Uhh, I don't really remember, but I would imagine that Chris just wears the same stuff he wears every day.
In the letter Chris said he was banned from sharing his concerns in front of the congregation because he whined about da evil trolls :pickleman: and the pastor was sick of it. From the church audio it seems like Bob kept the manchild behaved.
I think it's more like Elizabeth, like Rocky, easily tolerated all of Chris' bullshit. Why else would they allow him to attend the Young Adult Group when he was approaching 30? And she apparently had no problem putting up with the shit Chris would write down for concerns and congratulations or whatever the fuck it was. Ed however is a bit more strict about this sort of thing. Whereas everybody else is writing down about seriously ill family members, or upcoming marriages and babies, Chris is bitching about Snyder and the Game Place and begging for someone to be his sweetheart. I doubt he just walked up to Chris after his first sermon there and told him he was banned for a month after ignoring his "concerns", he probably told Chris several times to not write anything down that wasn't a genuine problem before telling him he was banned for a month.

As for only old people acknowledging him, they did so because they were safe from his antics. Chris isn't going to hit on grandmas or bother them about Pokemon. Older parents just ignored him since he was a non-threat and have plenty of experience of dealing with annoying kids, younger parents might have found him a creepy potential threat or just didn't give a fuck because he was just an annoying kid in a grownup's body and not somebody they could genuinely talk to, kids thought he was just some weird big kid, and teenagers and young adults (especially girls/women) made sure to ignore him or else he would latch onto them like the Wallflower. Teenage boys and men had nothing to worry about because they're just JERKS.

Wasn't that Hoppy easter video shot after he got back from an Easter service?

Yeah, but that's one of the things he'd wear every day. Or back then, anyway. See [cwc]Chris and fashion[/cwc]. It's the Dunwich Horror.

The important question is really, has he ever gone full Tomgirl at a Church service?
Probably not, but full tomgirl didn't last long in the first place. Although he did wear makeup to his court case, so who knows.

And Rocky was present at Chris's hearings, so I suppose she put up with it.

The Chandlers couldn't look more out of place than they would at a Korean church. They really are a bunch of misfits, aren't they? The Chandlers, that is - not Koreans.

Like everything else, Bob was the point man for the Korean church. And I'm pretty sure it was just him and Chris attending. Bob was willing to leave the house, make friends and be as worldly as he could be within the confines of his age and moronic son.

I'm not the most committed churchgoer, but I try to make it about once a month. For the past year or so, I've been attending a United Methodist church, and they're pretty centrist politically. They don't endorse da homos, but they oppose discrimination and hate. Alcohol is of course permitted. Abortion has never been mentioned.

The one thing they ARE committed and outspoken about is charity and relief work. It pisses me off because I KNOW this is why Chris gravitated to the church- so he could take advantage of their greatest conviction as a sort of extra, non-monetary tugboat.

Chris goes to church for the same reason as anyone else: self-validation.
Rocky supported gay marriage but he sure as hell doesn't. He embraces whatever's convenient and discards the rest as arcane and wrongful interpratation of his god's words. Well, used to anyway, until he stopped carying alltogether.

Fun fact- Methodists were once largely inspired by the Temperance Movement (ie - no booze) and were one of the biggest pushers for Prohibition back in the 20th early century. This isn't to say you're wrong (nowadays you are absolutely correct)- just wanted to expel pointless bits of trivia for trivia night.

And I dunno if it was the Methodist church's act of charity that intrigued Chris, moreso that it was his parents deciding this for him.

I FOUND FOOTAGE OF ROCKY PREACHING IN CHRIS"S CHURCH!!!! :ween:
